has anyone been able to run the app with a user account? I can't get it to work at all, doesn't even see the STB.

also, for some reason when I resume from standby the FW recording doesn't come out right...

sorry if these have been addressed before...

Does the user account have admin priveledge? It needs it.

Standby - S1 or S3? S3 the firewire drivers have problems, I have put some workrounds in the latest version. If you have a motorola STB then you need a workaround I did for it today.

nope, the user account is not an admin... is it an artifact of the driver, or is it a permission issue... I tried doing the regmon thing, but I didn't see any "denied" requests...

    I have a motorola DCT6200, and I'm using S3... I'd love to test out

Just wanted to give my thanks to the developers for this app. I now can watch HD on my MCE with the Motorola STB I have!

If someone knows of a way to donate $$$ to the developers, I will be more than happy to.

Plus, if you need a beta tester for Live TV, let me know!

    Regards,

Any thoughts on why some HD STB's have TWO firewire ports?  My 3250HD has two ports, is that merely to allow two different devices to control a single STB, or could it possibly stream two different shows?
  •
The ports are the same, the stb contains a firewire hub, it allows you to chain stbs, e.g. I have a firewire disk plugged into 1 port on 1 stb, the other goes to 1 port on the 2nd stb, and the 2nd port on the 2nd stb goes to my mce, i.e. all my firewire devices are in a chain. Doesn't allow more than 1 device to control it, that would be up to the software on the stb.

So does rollup two help get live TV in?

I'd be willing to beta test.

Couple of questions. I am having trouble with the application failing. After a day or two the channel change quits working and I have to reboot the MCE to get it back. Anyone else see this? Second question: Since the STB has 2 firewire ports can I chain them and will the app see the second one.

I have one other report recently of random ehmsas shutdowns which stop if the firewire package is uninstalled. Can you post %temp%\tuner.txt and %temp%\tuner.log next time it happens, along with what you were doing. The other report thinks it is when the MCE shell is closed, are you doing the same thing?

Yes you can chain the firewire ports, I do exactly that.

hey tim, hows the live tv going?

    Hey Tim,

Again I have problems with mytray thinking that 5C=1 on broadcast channels.  Tonight I wanted to record Arrested Development on FoxDT & Prison Break on FoxDT (immediately follows Arrested Development).  The arrested development recording failed because 5c=1, yet without touching anything it appears that prison break is going along without throwing that error.  Now the computer came back from standby, but I restarted the mytray app.  Now that I think about it and type it out, was it the app that needed to be restarted or the firewire driver - restarting the computer to fix resume from standby?

edit:  just checked and file size on prison break is zero.

..and you've eaten your pen. Simply stunning.Tr

I am trying to get a release out with the current recording functionality. It fixes a number of bugs, adds rollup2 functionality, r5000hd support, workround s3 issues in the drivers, support for a sky usb controller, AIW tuners fixes, some changes to support dvrmstoolkit, fixed some 2 STB tuner allocation issues, and probably some more things I have forgotten.

Anyone with rollup 2 needs this update, otherwise recording fails, once I get this update out I can focus on livetv.

I have sent you a private build to test. It looks as though the meistb.sys driver doesn't handle standbys while mstapeo.sys does. I have added a workround for the standby problem which seems to fix the problem.

    Timmmoore,

Just got back trip. Here is the output of the devcon command that you are looking for. Also, on the latest forum there is a similar problem after s3 standby by other user.

    Timmmoore:

Complete Newbie here.  I'm reading through the pages and up to page 8 so far.  However, I saw you were online so I opted to post this now.  Please forgive me if I just haven't gotten to the post that may already exist.

    I have a SA 3250HD stb.

For a while I wasn't able to change channels inside MCE (but worked fine from Channel.exe).  After many uninstalls and reinstalls - the channel changing is working fine inside MCE.

I have only executed firestb.msi - and have done nothing else (saw some people were registering DLL's early on).  I have done nothing else inside of MCE.  Do I need to do anything inside of MCE to indicate to it there is a "firewire tuner" per se?

I select a program to record.  While recording, I see there is a file in my "recorded TV" directory - but only 1 - it has a file extension of .dvr-ms.  I look into the FIRE subdirectory and I see the same file that is being recorded listed here but has a prefix of "FIRE" and is only 6kb in size.  I believe this is where you may be storing the metadata for the recorded show??  File extension is .SBE

Recording ends - and all I have is the single file.

In Mytray.exe I have selected to "Enable Firewire Recording" and to "Do nothing with MCE recording" - until I can see that I am getting both analog and firewire recordings.

I am using a Haupaugge 150MCE card (I have 2 in there but for testing purposes I have disabled the second card).  I have the SA3250HD box connected via firewire as well as S-Video for the analog side.

I have attached my channel.txt, tuner.log and tuner.txt files in the single zip file for your review if needed.

Any help and direction would be appreciated.  Thanks for the help - and thanks for developing a great app!
