One more bug - if you click "watch folder" bug don't provide a watch folder, mc-tvconverter will attempt to start in minimized mode, but warns that the folder is not defined. However, it then exits w/o allowing you access to the UI. The only solution for me was to uninstall and re-install because I couldn't find the registry or config value to reset manually
Can confirm this! Thanks for reporting!
You can edit the config.ini to turn off the automatic minimizing - it's stored in the last lines of the document. Set "watchFolder=0" to disable this behaviour. No settings are ever written to registry to keep the GUI portable!
I will add a setting though in the new version to disable this behaviour because some people already requested it.
Hey guys - started using the latest MC-TVConverter tool for my video converting needs as I have no skills with command lines and needed an automated, watched folder solution. My situation is this and hopefully someone can help out. I need to convert uncompressed avi's to mp4 avi's. I saw that with Freemake Video Converter, I was able to do so but again, need something automated and awesome like MC-TV. I modified the custom profile using ffmpeg but I think since it sees the input and output as avi, it's just doing a direct stream copy despite the parameters I put in the command line. If it can do this the way I need it to, donations are definitely on the way! :-)
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Hi and welcome! I'm happy you like my GUI! ;-)
You are right - by selecting one of the internal profiles that is the same target format as the input format, I just make a streamcopy because i assume it to be used to only cut the file. Anyhow, you can create a custom profile to compress it for example. Follow the guide in the help file to create a custom profile. You will have to add something like the following lines to the profiles.ini:
------------------------------
[Custom AVI (*.avi) (input: wtv,dvr-ms,mpg,ts,avi,mp4,wmv)]targettype=customoutputExtension=aviinputExtensions=wtv|dvr-ms|mpg|ts|avi|mp4|wmvexecutablePath=ffmpegexecutable=ffmpeg.execommand=-i <@inputfile@> -y -deinterlace -f avi -vcodec mpeg4 -vtag DIVX -sameq -acodec libmp3lame -ar 48000 -ab 128k -ac 2 -async 48000 <@outputfile@>
Of course you can edit the commandline according your needs. Let me know if you have questions.
Excellent, thanks!
Hi hudl, i'm having trouble converting a few specific wtv files and i was wondering whether you might be able to give me a pointer on why. 90% of the series convert to TS but I'm left with a number that i can't do anything with. The log file is:

i've tried the alternative method and it processed the first 16 seconds and then stopped. i didn't try anything else as i'm not sure what it means. Direct conversion with Handbrake also stops after a very short time. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Hi!
Please try the following: 1) turn on the alternative method to convert the file, 2) open the status output area, 3) drag the wtv file to the gui and convert it.
Copy the full output from the status output area to pastebin.com. In this output there should be the error message why ffmpeg was unable to convert it.
Do you have a sample file for me to check it? Seems these streams contain some serious errors that can't be fixed. But I can't tell you for sure without the error message.
ok, never used pastebin before but presuming this is sufficient http://pastebin.com/hjuTWKqh
i could supply a sample but the files are 5Gb. is there a way to cut wtv files i don't know about?
its weird I've worked my way through almost 200 episodes of the X-files and i only had one similar failure. then i get onto the final season and 75% of them won't convert!!
any help will be very grateful received as otherwise i have to wait 6 months for them to screen again... even if i can do some other conversion and then come back to a TS format later
http://pastebin.com/pf0GYTUZ
wtv file converted 100% completed;
two audio streams were converted correctly;
but no subtitle files (*.srt) were produced. (English subtitles)
*.ts destination file format selected

Guys
New user to this great app, but I have a question.
I am converting some files that have the 1st track as hearing imapaired and the 2nd track is the correct audio that I want. Both tracks are marked as follows in the streaminfo:
Audiostream: 0:1
------------------------------------------------
Language: eng
Codec: aac_latm
Samplerate: 48000 Hz
Channels: stereo
Bitrate: --- kb/s
(Stream #0:1[0x145](eng): Audio: aac_latm ([2][22][0][0] / 0x1602), 48000 Hz, stereo, s16 (hearing impaired)
)
Audiostream: 0:2
(Stream #0:2[0x146](eng): Audio: aac_latm ([2][22][0][0] / 0x1602), 48000 Hz, stereo, s16
How do I get it so that I only get the 2nd track encoded in the output?
For info, I am using the excellent .MP4 profile settings as provided by jrandeck on Page 49.
Many thanks
Al
To answer my own question, I found the command in the profile.ini entry. As the stream I wanted was the second one, I simply changed a 1 for a 2, thus:
-a 2 -E faac -B 160
@spaceboy1976:
Unfortunately there is no way to cut WTV files directly (maybe with the commercial "videoRedo"). Maybe you can record a small sample and see if you get the problem there too? It's difficult to debug without a sample - and I'm no video guru too... ;-)
Obviously there are some errors in your stream. Maybe a new version of ffmpeg fixes it. You can try download a new version here: ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds (32-bit Builds (Static))
Some parameters have changed so it is possible that you have to replace them with the current syntax. Or wait for my new version where I updated all the profiles... ;-)
@williamwclee:
Thanks for the full log and sample! Although there are subtitles in the wtv file, ccextractor does not find them in the resulting ts file - obviously remuxTool does not include them for whatever reason. As long ccextractor is not able to handle wtv files, there is nothing I cand do about it (remuxTool also is discontinued...). Sorry on that...
@crazeeal:
I've already included a function to ignore "hearing impaired" streams in my next version (along with a complete rewrite of the audio handling). Nice you figured out the workaround I wanted to suggest you... ;-)
Hello,
First I have to say what a great software!!!!
It is working excellent with no problemsat all, well exept one :-(
I do not know if this is some kind of limitation, bug or wrong setting so please help me.
The only problem I have is when I record a show in Media center (file is approx 7,5 GB large) and I want to convert it to MP4 (HQ) the conversion starts and ends with no errors (even in log file), but the coverted file is not redable by any player. For instance my original (recorded) file is 7,49GB large. The converted file (that is not playable) is 4,32GB large.
All files that converted size is less than 4,2GB are OK and played with no problems. If the result file size is larger than 4,2 GB all the files are corrupted.
Do you have any suggestion how to solve this problem??
Thank you in advance!
Ok, I found how to solve problem. I created new profile and use -4 switch for Handbrake for using 64 bit files and now the converted files are with no errors and playable.
Too fast for me ;-)
Yes, that's a file restriction from mp4 files and using this switch in handbrake overcomes this limit. However, such files are not playable on all devices. So, use it just if you really need it.
