I could not get the hack to work with the Digital cable but I Found the Antenna had a listing for HD in my area. http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ZCGrid.do?method=decideFwdForLineup&lineupId=PC:48091&zipcode=48091&setMyPreference=false

I used the hack with Id="PC:48091" and got the right PBS stations and Guide by setting up WTVSTDT 56.1 WTVSTDT2 56.2 and they even have a WTVSTDT3 56.3 third channel. The guide is right. However, It will not upgrade. I keep getting media center warning, that that guide is no longer available and that I need to rerun setup.

What gives? The guide is available, I can see it here http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ZCGrid.do?method=decideFwdForLineup&lineupId=PC:48091&zipcode=48091&setMyPreference=false

    Can anyone help?

i got it to work this time around, and i realized that i would have to essentially map everyone of my channels to the new guide, its quite alright since the new guide i'm dl'ing has everything listed, here's to hoping that it sticks.
also, i dunno how i can help GoTimothy, other than the obvious appropriate restarts, and letting the guide dl at the appropriate time =/
Maybe going through the process again?

Hey primetime34, I live in Boise, 83706, and got the hack to work. I used the Cableone digital cable provider in zap2it, and the ID I used in my registry entries is: ID11474X

This worked for me in Chicago. I used comcast digital cable and mapped over to the ATSC (mainly for wttw and all the sub-channels.)

I did not do the registry hack, i simply configured comcast digital after I had the antenna configured and then proceeded to delete all the comcast channels from the guide.  Because I had my OTA already configured, I guess it never deleted my ATSC channels.  so I just remapped the pbs channels and all is good after a few reboots.  I guess we now wait and see after the guide gets an update or two...

I had the same problem the only listing that had the channel I wanted was the Antenna one on zap website, but it appears that MS doesn't have this data, only the cable company data therefore it cannot be accessed from Media Center.

How do I access the registery?

This is insane that Microsoft markets their MCE machines as the be all end all for my digital life and I have to hack the registery to get it to show the right channels. Crazy!

I've set up my listing using the local digital cable listings.

This works fairly well, but some subchannels don't have a corresponding cable listing.  For most of these the guide data just says "Data not available" which is fine, but for a few it just duplicates the program guide info for the primary (.1) channel.   This is confusing and I'd rather those subchannels just said "Date not available" as well.  I tried to select "Don't show program listings for this channel" from the Add Listings to Channel option in media Center tasks, but this does not change the behavior - it still lists the guide info from the .1 channel for all subchannels.

Any way to fix this?  Perhaps some altering of the xml pref files?

I've manage to solve my own problem (see post above) so I thought I'd post in case anyone having similar issues.  In the process I think I also solved another issue I was having where a couple of stations would lose their reassigned channel listings over time.

I first started over again from scratch.  This time when I added the subchannels I renamed them to the exact name that the Cable provider uses.  I got these specific names by going into the Media Center tasks and selecting Add Listings to Channel under Guide.  You can scroll through all the possible channel names just to see what options are there, but not actually change anything.  Then when I added the channels I knew the exact name to use.  For channels that did not have a listing with the cable company I changed the name to the actual channel name.  After adding the channels all the guide listings were correct for the channels that had Cable listings and the other channels now show "No Data availble" instead of the incorrect lsiting. The only one that had to be changed was for one of the .1 channels (9.1) which I changed using the Add Listings to Channel menu.

BTW, I'm in the San Francisco bay area and found that Alameda Telecom has the best listings especially for the PBS (KQED) subchannels as they show the correct times that the HD channels sign on and off during the day.  The Comcast cable listings only show the cable feed versions whcih broadcast 24hours/day so you end up with listing for some hours when the OTA station is actually off the air.  The zap2it code for Alameda Telecom is CA61080X

This hack works for both Vista and 2005. The hard part is finding the provider ID from zap2it.  Then just change the 2 registry entries and you're in business.

When adding the subchannels you have to make sure you name them with the exact name that they have in the cable listing. Due to a bug in Vista, it loses all manually associated listings.  The subchannel has to be named exactly so Vista can do an auto-association, which is permanent.

    Bryan,
I get through the registry edits, but I can't download the new guide listings.  I get a Code 13 error.  Unable to connect to the internet.  If I do a "Setup Guide Listings" it will connect and download the guide, but of course that over writes the changes I just made...

    Addtl info:
I already had added my pbs subchannels trying in vain to get the program data to upload before I saw your post...do I need to delete them before starting your hack?
Also I have edited my atscchannel.xml and atscprefs.xml files because Microsoft (God love 'em) is sending me the wrong frequency for 1091.  That ABC affiliate here in DC is currently broadcasting it's digital on channel 34 but will go to channel 9 in Feb 2009...MS has 1091 on 9 already.  I read in a blog by Aaron Stebner that the Code 13 error could be tied to the directory that holds those .xml files.    He has a few suggestions to try an fix the error, but I just wonder if it was tied to the registry changes...I'm tired of fiddling with it tonight will try some more tomorrow...

When I go to Zap2it and after I typed in my Zip code, 95008, I am in San Jose, CA, and I have different URL shown and my URL is http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ZCGrid.do?method=decideFwdForLineup&zipcode=95014&setMyPreference=false&lineupId=DITV:- and I do see DITV is in the provider ID in my registry and it is [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\ProgramGuide]
"strProviderId"="DITV" and I noticed it is missing the "x". Do you think I should add that back in manually?

If anyone in my area, can u please let me know your id is?

    Hi everyone,

I just want to make sure this is the right thread and hack of my problem - I have 2 OTA, digital input turner by Fusion AND 2 standard input, DirectTV, turner by Haupage in my HTPC. I do not have any problem with my DirectTV Guide in my VMC but I don't have any info in my local OTA digital info.

When I followed this thread sollution, I came up with http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ZCGrid.do?method=decideFwdForLineup&zipcode=95014&setMyPreference=false&lineupId=DITV:- and it's the same thing in my registries HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\ProgramGuide] "strProviderId"="DITV" and [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\EPG] "headend"="DITV" I even tried to copy someone id close enough area id code but it is not correct for me.

So my problem is I have 2 OTA turners AND 2 Standard turner for DirectTV. DirectTV Guide are fine, no problem. But local OTA channel 1021 to 1111 those OTA channels for local, it shown "information not available" in the VMC Guide.

Please let me know am I in the right track to solve this problem or better yet if you can let me know how to solve my problem. Many thanks!

This hack worked great for me, on MC 2005, except for the PBS HD channel.  It took a while but I finally found a guide with all my other sub channels (Duluth, MN ZIP 55811, Charter Digital Cable)
But I can not find the PBS HD programming.  Is there anything else I should know?  Right now I set 8.2 up for channel 8.1, since a lot of the prime time programming is the same, and then I can schedule recordings from that channel. But during the day it is all different.

PS I have had it working for 3 days, and nothing has been deleted yet, but once in a while all the cable channels show up in my guide again??!!  I have gone through the Edit Channels Menu about 3 times - clear all - reselect the DTV channels, then its back to peachy.
