Now that I have finally got a TV card (Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT - which arrived with some of it's components loose in the bottom of the box as they had fallen off) - I have had a chance to play and I can't for the life of me get the thing to sleep. Sleeping it manually works perfect, trying to sleep after a recording or after the 4am optimisations it just doesnt happen. I have a logitech G7 and a logitech Quickcam, the problem occurered before I got the cam, and I don't have the setpoint software instaled for my mouse so i'm guessing it isnt that.
I tried closing every running program and turned off on access protection of avast AV but it still wont sleep. If anyone has any more ideas i'd be grateful. Thanks
P.S. I'm changing the topic slightly again in my own thread! :S
I just setup my HTPC with this board and I am using the on board video and audio. I happen to be using the latest BIOS Rev. 1649. When the computer returns from standby for some reason neither the audio or network card is working using Vista Home Premium. I used the latest drivers form the intel site. I checked last evening and I apparently have all the windows updates. If I restart the computer everything is fine. I read of similar problems on this site. http://neosmart.net/blog/2006/vistas-hideous-wakeup-support/
What I do not understand is why after installing the windows audio update my audio is still not working after standby. I had never had a motherboard with S3 standby before. Am I correct that it is a default with this Intel board. I do not see the option in the BIOS.
Is there any requirement for Viiv software to be installed with this board and Vista. I have a wired Gigibit network and am wanting to use this machine in my living room as a media server for various Win XP machines. Currently I do have Viiv installed.
I had this same issue and just resolved it. I made sure in the BIOS that S3 sleep state was enabled, booted in to Vista and went to Device Manager, from there I went to the properties of every USB Root hun and selected the Power tab, I selected "Allows Windows to shut this device down to save power", I also made sure this box was checked under any other applicable hardware. After the specified time for my computer to sleep, it went right to bed.

Would this not also shut down the USB port that your IR reciever, for your remote control, thus disabling the function to wake the PC up with the remote?

That's odd, the only thing I can suggest then is to start disabling non-essential hardware one by one, such as NIC / WNIC. Also, I disabled Security Center as I have a hardware firewall, no AV, etc. The only thing I am running automatically in the BG is Defender.
I'm not at home, but make sure under the customer power settings that you make sleepign a priority such as the last few options, I made indexing medium priority and media sharing to allow the computer to sleep.
Oh dear, oh dear. I can not believe how much of an idiot I am.
I just ran a quik google search on the last option in power savigs to do with idling/away mode/standby etc. I was reading the option totally wrong!
"prevent idling to sleep"
I was reading this as "prevent idling - to sleep", I finally just realised it's "prevent - idling to sleep", i always thought it meant prevent the computer from idling and [to] go to sleep. When it's the opposite.

Everyone take note of this stupid option that will drive you insane if you don't set it right!
Yes, that's the one. That should do it for you.
