I seem to have some irregular behavior with my modded Scaleo E.I have installed a foxconn G33M-S on it lately and i am trying to solve the sleep issue not to mention other issues. I have Vista installed.First of all, the blue power leb button is always on regarless weither the pc is on or off.Second, having it go to "sleep" mode is odd, sometimes it shuts everything off when i press sleep, sometimes it leaves the power led button on (blue) flashing. I might be able to guess it is because of some running progs in the background that change this behavior.
Another thing, sometimes coming back from sleep the pc hangs, I have ATI radeon 2400pro, I get no HDMI single when i wake it, on top of that nothing else works and you just have to power it off manually with 4sec pressing on power button.
Third, sometimes pc wakes up by itself, i've been told Vista might be waking it up to update/upgrade (not sure how you can disable that).
Last problem is the VFD display, it just displays Scaleo E, it does work when you actually start the pc for the first time, but after sleep mode it just displays Scaleo E and never changes.
Ok, since I created this thread, I naturally have a lot of experience by now with these problems (look at hte date it was originally created). I don't know about your specific hardware, but some of the problems seem to be similar to ones I had.
First of all, blue power LED, is this on when the PC is OFF OFF or just in Hybrid sleep off? As in, sleeping or shut down?
Sleep mode is affected by media player and torrent apps I have found. There is an option in the power settings (power options ->Edit plan settings(for plan you're using) -> change advanced power options settings , it's the last option at hte bottom of the customisation options which is something like multimedia settings -> when sharing media -> sllow the computer to idle to sleep this one allows it to automatically sleep and usually helps it enter proper sleep when you hybrid sleep.
The blue flashing button means its not in hybrid sleep but standard sleep, or what WAS known as standby in XP.
PC hanging after sleep ust be a driver problem, I had it once upon a time but it resolved itself with updates.
Waking up itself. This is a feature in media center, in the options, it starts up at a certain time every day to "optimize" it's usually 5am i think, I keep it on because i use it. You can disable it from within the media center options.
Lastly the display, is your VFD display USB connected? I'm not familiar with them, but I guess it is, in that case, Vista has an option in the power settings again that will turn off USB ports to save power. Also in the device manager if you right click it and go to it's properties, you should be able to untick a box that allows the computer to turn it off to save power.
Lastly, for anyone who might need it, I found a new command today, type this in an elevated command prompt "CTRL+SHIFT+Enter" type without quotes "powercfg /hibernate on"
Don't know if this has been shown before on TGB but I havnt been active here for years, but basically it gives you back the hibernate options which isnt available in Vista by default. I found it after getting a DELL vista which had the option enabled by default.
Good luck.
That is a puzzle. I can't figure out how the LED is working. I myself had a problem with my LCD backlight staying on but that was because the 5V rail that is used to allow the keyboard to power on the computer is always live when the system is off, as is the power rail for all the USB ports, maybe your power LED is connected to the same place, but still, that doesn't answer why it starts flashing and even switches off completely when the system is in sleep mode.
I don't know if it will mean anything, but when my system is in "Full Power" state, and I sleep it, the fans and all LEDs etc remain on. If I put it in "Power Save" It will then happily go to S3 sleep with fans off, LCD backlight off etc but can still be woken up instantly just by moving my (USB) mouse.
Again, if we can see where it is connected. If it's connected directly to the Motherboard like most power LEDs then it is clearly some strange feature of your motherboard, it might help to look into the Power Save setting in your BIOS and maybe look up more specific detials about your motherboard and why it does this.
Again, with the VFD, I don't use one so I'm not to sure, your best bet is to try and find it in the device manager, if it's USB connected, it could be in Sound Video and Game Controllers, it could be in Displays, or even in USB devices. Best bet is to look at each in turn and unplug the device, see if it disappears. Then you might be able to find it in the device manager. Maybe if you plug it into a new port you can watch it install the driver and hence find hte name assigned to it in device manager.
