As you might know, the Windows Home Server platform is scheduled to be released in the coming months.  HP will have one of the first products available based on WHS.  What is interesting is that HP includes a custom WHS add-in that will automatically copy your Media Center recordings.  Not sure how (or if) it works with protected content too.

very interesting. i'd love to see how they're going to get around the protected content as well....where'd u see this anywhere? very cool stuff, if at the very least because a big company like HP is seeing the importance of tying in MCE to WHS (hopefully this'll convince MS to make it a priority)

Even without this tho, it wouldn't be all that hard to have a batch file run periodically (or use something like the SyncToy powertoy) which copies or moves your recorded shows over...or even Richard Miller's hack to record TV directly to your WHS. looks like there's gonna be plenty of options which is good to see

If there is DRM on the recorded TV, the MCE PC that recorded the TV show sould be able to play that recorded TV show, even if the recorded TV is stored on the Windows Home Server,. now other MCE PC on the same network may have a problem (Xbox360 sould be OK) playing the recording from WHS.

If I only had or have protected content(DRM) on any of my recorded TV, I could test it to see if DRM recorded TV plays from WHS, but I do not and I record from HBO and Showtime all the time.

Great,  DRM recordings sould also work on the Xbox360 that is connected to the main MCE PC, do you have xbox360 to test the DRM TV recording on from WHS to xbox360.

I'll give it a go this weekend, I don't see any reason it won't work though..
