I dont think thats possible. That type of advanced setup is definitely possible in an remote like the harmony, where you can program behaviours for different devices on switch on/switch off etc

I personally use the Harmony 880. If you dislike IR, want to use multiroom  or longer distance, teh 890 is the RF equivalent of the 890. Im not a fan of the 1000.... state of the art? IR, and wont fit comfortably in one hand and fall down couch sides, like a remote should :p

It really depends on what you want to achieve, If its mce only, teh standard IR remote of the equivalent bluetooth standard remote are ok, that latter having a much less obtrusive usb dongle rather than that ugly receiver.

The ultimate mce only remote would have to be ricavisions sideshow remotes...bit pricey though !


I you have more than just tv and mce, youre really best off going with  a harmony. I love the 880 myself... you can get them pretty cheap nowdays(compared to when they first came out!)

Now I have not tired this, but if you set a macro on another remote to copy IR from TV no/off and the Amp no/off IR. then copy that macro to the MCE remote, that should work.

also - all but non-existent.   But it is beautiful...   does it have a slide out for channel entry? that could be a fatal flaw if not.

I need a serious suggestion from everyone on remote controls.  I know my idea can be accomplished, but I don't know how to do it.

I like the idea of the Harmony remotes because they control all your peripherals.  However, the Harmony remotes do not automatically control menus within VMC.

I want a remote control that works exactly like a Harmony, but, for instance, when I press the "Play DVD" button, not only do my peripherals turn on, but (assuming VMC is running) also navigate to the DVD Library screen within VMC.

The same would hold true with Live TV.  If I hit the "TV" button, I want my peripherals turned on and a tv channel playing, without the need to navigate through VMC (unless I want to).

Is there such a remote that can do this?

I have a harmony 890 and it'll do everything you mentioned sevendustweb.  Though I think when I build my home theater room I'm going to leave the 890 in the living room and pick up one of these, if they work as good as they look that is..   http://www.ricavision.com/vave100.html
