Here's the issue I'm having:

When I try to burn a non license-protected show (either SD or HD) to DVD, I get the screen to select data or video dvd, but when I select 'video DVD', MCE crashes and I get the "Media Center has stopped" error, with no further explanation other than the "Media Center Extensibility host has stopped working" error.  I have a clean install of Vista with only FireSTB, AnyDVD and PowerDVD 7 installed.  Is there an encoder that I'm missing?

I have exactly the same problem with both my vmc and my vista laptop. At first I too suspected a codec issue, but seeing as in both cases I was trying to burn a DVRMS file I suspect the problem lies within....

I found no fix and gave up trying!

I had the same problem before and I suspected that it was an issue with the MyMovies plugin but I never found out since I did a clean install. After the clean install everything was ok.

I don't have MyMovies installed yet, so it really is a clean install.  I wonder if there's an encoder that needs to be reinstalled...

No encoder needs to be added it sould just work, installing Nero can give you problems burning DVDs.

No nero either.  I have nothing installed other than AnyDVD, DiVX, QuickTime, the Intel chipset/video drivers, and the drivers for my wireless adapter.

Did you guy's ever find a viable solution for this issue?

Basically when I try to burn a recorded TV show to DVD (in this case, it's actually the evening news) I have the SBEserver crash with an error that references mpeg2dec.
If I re-install Vista, will I still be able to access the current DVR-MS files for recorded TV shows? or will I lose access to those after a re-install?
