    Defrostmode:

ETA: in mmc, looking at the certificates, there is one under personal/certificates labled Microsoft Windows Media Center Extender Host (issued to and by). If I click on it, in the general tab under 'certificate information' it says "This CA Root certificate is not trusted because it is not in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store."

should I move it there? (I have been deleting it each time I try to set the 360 up again).

also I noticed there is an mcx folder with no certificates in it... does it have to do with the setup problem?

A little explaination about the quote above for those who may be reviewing this thread and wondering about the the Media Center Extender certificates.

The Windows Media Center Extender Host certificate is in the right place and although that message is given that the CA root ceritificate is not trusted this certificate is ok and is not causing the issues reported here. If this certificate were the cause of this issue, you would have seen a Mcx2Dvcs event ID 405 in the Media Center Extender logs reporting an error code of -114.

The MCX folder is empty because we have not completed to the security negotiation with the Xbox 360. When we complete negotiation there will be a certificate associated with the Xbox 360.
