Is there software or registry changes that can be used to adjust the brightness / contrast output of the AverTV Combo PCI-E analog tuner in Vista Media Center?

Live TV from this tuner is very bright compared to other video playback on the computer; such as DVDs and recored TV from other computers. I am able to adjust the overall video output on my ATI video card but then Live TV looks OK but everything else is dark; DVD's and other video.

I've contacted Avermedia support and they told me that their TV application allows you to adjust the picture but not in Vista Media Center. I was then told by Avermedia to come here and find a solution!

Any suggestions?

It doesn't even work with the M780 in MCE2005 (for me at least), so I don't think there's much hope for Vista.  Send an e-mail to the Avermedia, maybe if they get enough they'll release a tool to adjust it.

I thought I'd bring this thread back from the dead.

It works for my M780 in Vista.

To start with, I already had the brightness and contrast set in my nVidia display driver so it was optimized for DVDs and pretty much everything except for TV.  Then I ran the MCE Video Settings utility and set brightness to 475 and contrast to 155.  Setting brightness to 500 worked on most material, but occasional letterbox bars showed up, so I lowered it further to 475 to get rid of those.
