I heard about this a few weeks back (http://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4065), but figured I would wait and see if anything was officially released ...  But nothing.

So, I'll ask .. is there such a thing being developed that will work with the Hauppauge tuner (the 1600 I believe is the one with QAM support)? And if so, when might we be able to assist in testing this cool new "feature"?

Oh yeah, I want to know when we're going to get Avermedia A180 QAM support, too... Jessica, have we (and by we I mean Microsoft) abandonded the idea of QAM for Media Center?

QAM in Media Center will happen. A QAM PowerToy will not. I can't tell you a timeline for the addition of this feature, unfortunately.

So, if a QAM PowerToy exists, it is not something that Microsoft is working on and must be some other 3rd party addition?

Yea, same here. As always the responce is "working on it" and can give no release date. (no offence Jess), If you want QAM now, the only way is the HDhomerun or though a cable card system.

So true. I care about QAM. PIP...not so much. :-)

Okay, seriously. Microsoft will not be releasing a PowerToy for QAM support, period. I do not know of a PowerToy being developed outside of Microsoft. So for now, your options are the digital cable tuner without a CableCARD (expensive, I think, and not a great experience) or the HDHomeRun - both of which have the fun and excitement of mapping guide data to scanned channels. Yuck.

oh, and lest we not forget the most fun about qam in MCE right now....assuming you do take the HOURS to remap your channels correctly, god forbid anything happens to your guide or you have to reconfigure your tuner, and BAM, you get to do it ALL over again!!

    hooray!!! :-D

    seriously tho...PIP!!! it's football season already!!! :-)

This won't help you for football but you can get a pseudo-PIP that allows you to use MCE and watch recorded content - I do this to allow my daughter and I to share the TV - Wiggles for her and sports for daddy!  Start the pre-rerorded content outside of MCE by double-clicking on a dvr-ms file, avi file or whatever.  Size the window as you like then switch the focus back to Media Center and start watching LiveTV or whatever.
