    I am now using  Vista Ultimate  operating system on my Media Center.

    I ran Windows XP MCE 2005 prior to changing. I have many DVD movies burned to my hard drives ( used DVD Cloner ) and they played fine with MCE 2005 . Movies and front cover pictures were listed just fine.

    Now, vista will not play any of these movies. I can see them but when I click on them The folder just opens and it shows the audio file and video files but will not play... ????  DVD's inserted in the drive play Great. I have Nvidia Decoder loaded.

    Please help , anyone know what is up with this.
    Thnks in advance.

    You may need to add information in to your registry for the .vob extension. I recall having to run a .reg file to do this.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.vob]
    "PerceivedType"="video"
    "Content Type"="video/mpg"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Multimedia\WMPlayer\Extensions\.vob]
    "Runtime"=dword:00000007
    "Permissions"=dword:0000000f
    "UserApprovedOwning"="yes"

    Try the MyMovies addin.

    Have you done this?:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\DvdSettings]
    "ShowGallery"="Gallery"

    Doing the "Gallery" registry edit fixed things for me.  I found the MyMovies addin way too complicated and unintuitive, though if you have a large collection of movies, it would be a good way to manage them.

    There are two separate fixes for this.

    The easier fix is the registry change. I'm not sure if you had a question about that or not. There are two ways you can change the registry:

    1. Run regedit
      navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\DvdSettings]
      Double-click the entry named ShowGallery and change its value to Gallery
    2. Copy the text inside the quote box in my post into Notepad
      Make sure word wrap is turned off and that "[HKEY" and "DvdSettings]" are on a single line
      Save the file as fixit.reg (make sure Notepad didn't put .txt at the end)
      Double-click fixit.reg and it should ask you if you want to import it into the registry. If instead it brings up Notepad then it is still named fixit.reg.txt and you will need to rename it (by default Windows hides the extension which is stupid-stupid-stupid but makes the OS look a little more like Mac).

    The harder (slightly) fix is to install MyMovies. I don't have a pointer to it because I only used it for about an hour before deciding it was overkill for my needs.

    That was it. Fix it easy and quick. thank you !!!

    Now if I can just fix the other issues.

    1) Live TV blurry, the picture or movements have traces behind them. Like the track on a mouse arrow. worse when there is movement. The faster things move the worse it is.  I tried Nvidia Decoder but it locks up and say programs do not have permission to run. WMC decoders works but can get rid of the unclear picture / blur / bad during fast scenes.

    Note: DVD playback and Recorded TV is fine.  Also Live TV worked Perfect with MCE 2005 ... Then I changed to Vista ...

    there are a few tweaks you can try on those pvr500 cards. The guide was written for 2005 but some may still be applicable. here

    I'm curious why you are using raid 0 for storage instead of raid 1 (or 5,6,10 etc), a bit risky isnt it?

    Using Raid 0  for 2 reasons. 1) offers better faster performance over raid 1 . 2) I dont have enough Drives installed to run Raid 5 .  I keep a back up of all info on another system so If it goes down I have it all backed up.

    So, why was everything working with Windows MCE 2005  fine.

    It has to be something in Vista. Possible The decoder...
