This was Amazon's response:
"The basic purchase agreement allows you to download and view eachvideo from up to 2 different compatible devices (laptop, desktop, TiVoDVR, etc.) and transfer the video to 1 hand-held video device fromeach computer that contains the video. You may make back-up copies ofthe files you download, but each file will only be viewable on thecomputer originally used to download it. Therefore, it would not becompatible with the device in question."
hobo-2:Thanks for trying it out surge, if the video and audio played without any issues then that sounds like it will work, the audio is just AAC-LC which is 2 channel.
MDEnce:What did you figure out? Is there anything besides the tape? I got my DMA2100 connected in my bedroom 2 days ago. First night it was so bright that I got up at 3AM and unplugged it. Put the tape on it last night and at least that worked.
Hi I just finished reading all 13 pages of this topic and have a few questions:
1) If you install an addon (such as one that allows XML descriptions/images) into Vista Media Center, will the extender pass this data through?
2) I've read that DIVX movies with 5.1 AC3 will not actually play as 5.1 but instead will come out as PCM stereo. Anyone experience this?
3)If you are watching Live TV on two of these at a time, I assume you would have to watch the same channel? Is there any way to have two TV tuner cards installed on the Vista machine and have Media Center recognize them individually?
Thanks in advance,
Jeremiah

Most addons work fine..ie: weather..tapirex callerid, video browser, music browser, just to name a few..

it will try to output 5.1, but the audio will cut in and out so it's not usable. If you connect the regular rca left and right audio cables, you can switch your receiver to that input to get regular stereo.

Each extender can view a seperate live channel.
Without TV Pack, you can have as many tuners as your machine can handle (search for something like "3 tuner hack")
With TV pack and Vista Ultimate, you are limited to 4 tuners of the same type....4 QAM, 4 Analog, etc. I think Home Premium limits you to 2 of the same type.
Surge,
Thanks for the quick responses. That 5.1 sounds like a deal breaker. Is there any workaround for this and the DMA2100 to achieve surround? Or should I be shopping different hardware?

sngreco:Hey after I asked that question I started reading some other posts on here. I noticed that some people posted succesful results of XVID with 5.1. Any experience there?
