mchrisb03: My NIC is on-board my Abit MB. It is Realtek RTL8139 - based. I believe Intel NICs support this mode of wake up. They call it "Directed Packet". Check out New Egg they have a good selection of NICs.
WOL issue resolved.
I picked up a cheap Dynex card which is also Realtek RTL8139 based and it's doing the job.

Good deal! Do you find the wake up behavior to be similar to what I described earlier - where you have to hit Cancel and attempt a second connection via the Linksys menu?
We are a heartbeat away from being able to BUY HD files online that WILL work on extenders. I have a feeling you won't go for that. And you guys will be wanting to stream ripped DVDs five years from now after DVDs will mean nothing. Blu-Ray and HD will be "old" by then also. There is no reason for the spinning disc. You can't take the spinning disc with you as easy as one file. But none of the players or extenders are going to be able to play ripped DVDs. They will play the files. These files will be available for purchase everywhere, so you are in luck. If you are up for it. Remember my post when it happens. Q.

I can buy HD files right now that I can use on my 360, but I don't. It's funny because you're making all these arguements for using a file over a spinning disc which is EXACTLY what those of use that want to stream VOBs want. The diff is that you are willing to live without 98% of what makes a DVD attractive to me, which is to say the "bonus" material and the ability to skip around to whichever part of the movie I want at any time. I also rip without further compression because in most cases I don't like to lose the visual quality of the movie.

Yes it's the equivalent of the "slap method" of getting something to work again. Takes a couple attempts but it eventually complies. I also noticed that if the extender isn't exited out to the Linksys main menu or closed from the Task menu, it won't allow VMC to sleep. So if I fall asleep while watching a Deadwood xvid, VMC is awake until I can close the extender menu in the morning. I can live with that until theres a sleep timer for extenders. I doubt that.
Hi, I couldnt ask, I was very interested in one of these, can I ask if you know a good solution for a small amplifier for this, as I was going to hook this up to a standard pc monitor. Id love to get something small and was interested in an external sound card but they are all usb powered, or maybe even a monitor with good speaker output, its just that I will be listening to quite a lot of music
Could I also ask if its quiet, from reading through this forum it would appear that it was virtually silent, is this the case
thanks

Theres another thread on TGB saying theres a stuttery interface, and not a very VMC experience at all, can i ask for your impression on the interface
Thanks
ChiWax:What is the obsession with ripped DVDs? With all of the options these things open up for networked media I can't believe the obsession with ripping DVDs. If you guys are taking the time to rip all of these DVDs why can't you take the time to set-up conversions? Converted material will take up less space and it moves so much quicker than a full-blown DVD rip. Converted material is far more portable than a rip. How is it not cooler and easier to convert your DVDs to a portable format and have one file for everywhere. The bedroom, the kitchen, the family room, the train and the airplane. Instead it's a constant wish that huge companies like Microsoft or Linksys are gonna help you be less cool with your digital media. Why would they want to promote that? Q.
Somebody mentioned that even before your post...it is to preserve menus. Or at least it would be, if it worked over the extender. With GBs costing $0.20, what is the obsession with compressing? I for one don't plan on pirating or passing it on, so I would like to be able to file my DVDs and never look back.
