2dayWeather is now Vista4Cast located here:
    http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/243454.aspx

    Directions:

    1.  Sign up for weather.com xml feed:  http://www.weather.com/services/xmloap.html

    2. Unzip the archive to C:\Program Files\2dayWeather   (has to be this directory)

    3.  Run the install.reg  -  it adds the OEMLogoURI entry for MCE

    4.  Run the Config program

    6.  Schedule the 2dayweather.exe to run no more than every 2-3 hours.

Source code is available.   I will not support this to much since i mostly made it for myself.  Use at your own risk.  Only tested on 32bit vista.  Does not work on extenders.

if you finish this would u mind sharing the ability to do this?

    Cheers and well done!

of course i will, i will open source it.  i dont care, im sure someone can improve it.

I am finished.  I just need to test it alittle.  i am not sure how the XML file changes based on time.  I can tell you this, every user will need to register for the XML feed service from weather.com.  I have my partner id hard coded in, but i will see if i can change it to a config file.

here is a screenshot of the final

Looks awesome! Much better than MyWeather, looking forward to its realease.

Looks nice, nice and simple, always thought it was a bit too much hassle to go into a seperate page just to see the weather.

Be nice if there is a way to easily turn it on turn it off.

How did you end up doing this?  Do you just read the feed in and store it in an ArrayListDataSet?

I like this. Is there a way you could make it so the URL you access for the XML feed was configurable? I happen to have my own weather station (Vantage Pro) and could easy mimic the XML feed from weather.com so it would be displaying my personal weather station data.

Does this show up on the Start Page on extenders?

Not really, the only options i see are 1 or 2 day forcast.  I have not tested the extenders yet, but i have a bad feeling that it wont work :(  I am thinking of making a full application on top of this to show 5 day forecast and details.  the difference from the other apps will be no logos of my own and preloaded information for instant access.  It too will be open source (i suck at c#).

I have to test this one for a day or two.  I did see one problem. weather.com SDK says that a logo for weather.com has to be displayed.  I have no room to display it.  So i will release a "test" version that anyone is able to modify to add their logo somewhere ;)

To get ready to test this, go to weather.com and sign up for the xml feed SDK.  its free and they will email you a partner id and code.  I might not have time tonight or tomorrow, but my wednesday plans are to rewrite alittle bit of the program to use a XML config file as to make it easy for everyone to use.  I also have to make a short registry file to add the logo image path.  So, by wednesday i should be able to post the program, images, config, .reg file, and code to anyone that wants it
