In my case, I would have purchased at $250, but only because I have some Amazon.com gift certificates laying around that covered the purchase (from my Amazon.com credit card).  But I definitely would have waited awhile until my whole system is set up--I'm just starting out with VMC.  At $150, though, it was a no brainer.

I'm actually trying to decide whether to take my remaining $150 in gift certificates (I  had $300 total) to get another DMA2100 or a Blu-Ray drive for my upcoming build...

I am definitely in the same boat as jhale83.  I was planning on buying another 360, but would have rather had something in the smaller form factor for my bedroom.  At the original price the linksys got dropped from my bedroom extender plans very quickly.  With the new $150 price, I jumped all over it. 

Before I pulled the trigger I went back and read Chris' Review and watch the following video reviews on YouTube: Mavromatic.com Video Review and Ian Dixon's 360 vs DMA2100 Video.

Looking forward to gettting my hands on it when it arrives on Monday or Tuesday.

I was very tempted to pull the trigger on one of these, but the lack of "Zoom 4" mode kinda kills it for me. Great deal though!

I agree no zoom for is the killer for me. I would love not to have to get the xbox 360 in another room due to noise but I must have the zoom 4 as that is what me and the wife use when not watching hdtv.

Being a 'slight gamer' I could never justify the original $250 price tag... I always just felt I would just buy another 360 when I decided to add another room. However this $150 is just that... THE SWEET SPOT. I ordered mine just minutes after I read the post. It has shortcomings yes, but for $150 I can certainly live with 'em.

I just picked one up for the bedroom IMHO this is the perfect price point for a v2 extender. Can anyone confirm if these extenders can read external subtitle files such as .srt or .sub? Also are these extenders firmware upgradeable to support more codecs in the future.

For those taking advantage of this offer please reply to this thread.  I'm interested to see how the price is impact your purcahse.  In my opinion $150 is the perfect price for a standalone Extender, how many taking advantage of this wouldn't have at their regular price?

As I mentioned in the dSM-750 thread, for $150 I am willing to purchase a DMA2100, even with minor issues.  It comes down to the fact that it's so much quiter than the 360, and $130 cheaper than the arcade.  I'd be willing to say the perfect price for the DMA2100 should be $99.99 and the DMA2200 and DSM-750 should be at $149.99.

For the life of me I cannot understand why they feel the need to charge $249.99 and $299.99.  It's not like they are cramming it full of anything particularly powerfull.

Well here in the UK the DMA2100/2200 is still priced at £200/£220. As of today all the XBox360 SKUs have had a £50 price drop, so they come in at £150/£200/£250. You would have to add a further £60 if you wanted wi-fi, and another £20 for a remote control.

Setting aside the slightly odd way that each unit deals with divx/xvid/h.264 the Linksys units are underpowered and silent (the remote is supposedly rubbish) and the XBox360 units offer very good extender experience, but at the expense of noise.

But if Linksys were to drop the price to £75-£100 I would be willing to take a chance.

The DSM-750 should be priced equal to the DMA-2100.
Sure is has MediaLounge, but if you are buying this for Media Center, it's pretty much the same thing.  To be similarly priced to the DMA2200, it should have a DVD player.

I know Microsoft has said it will not have Blu-Ray support for the 360, but hopefully we will see Extenders with Blu-Ray drives from other vendors.

I use the Linksys remote in the bedroom where the only AV in there is the extender and a TV.  Sure the remote feels cheap, but I honestly don't think it is as bad as everyone says it is.  It would be nice if it had a light or glowed, but for about 90% of the time I'm using it, I can get to the buttons I need simply by feel.
