    Hi everyone

I updated my import tool for Sam's Video Browser. The newest release is available here :)

    New in version 0.2.2.6:

    New features:
    - Added a collection browser that lists all movies in the same directory as the one you selected. You can prevent it from showing up on startup through the config.

    Changes:
    - Redesigned the interface to support different DPI settings.
    - Added some controls for the new browser.

    Fixes:
    - The rating from moviemeter.nl was not calculated correctly depending on windows settings. Please note that the rating gets doubled and rounded to one decimal to correspond with the rating-format of the main source IMDB.
    - Added a workaround to get special characters from websites that don't use proper HTML escaping (like moviemeter.nl).
    - Fixed a bug in the XML-reader handling empty nodes that led to fields being filled with the wrong data in some cases.
    - Many small bugs fixed.

    Sam -

I love your product... its great for those of us who don't store everything permanatly on a NAS.

I hope one day that I will but file sizes still keep that a bit out of reach.

    Hi

I agree that Sam does an awesome job with his software. Please note that my tool is an independent development, so all the bugs you find in this program are my fault ;)

Please note that he also add's support for the Dutch MovieMeter.

I'm very pleased with it and allthough i receive(d) direct e-mails from salami, i just want to say thanks through this forum.

I just tried your new version (with collection browser enabled) and having some problems importing metadata for some movies at moviemeter.nl. It will not import metadata and especially  "Director", "Runtime", "Genres", "Actors" and "Plots". I have deleted existing metadata, url's and covers.

It is happening for at least the following movies:

    - Bee Movie
    - Beowulf (2007)
    - Death Sentence (2007)

I did not try other movies because maybe there is a bug. I can add metadata by hand but not for "Actors".

Thanks for the info! I have isolated the cause and will fix it in the next release.

I uploaded a new build that should fix your problems among others: https://www.fladivision.com/index.php/forum?func=view&catid=7&id=20#20

The new release fixed the bug(s) in moviemeter.nl. Tried about 50 movies now and no errors occurred.

I will continue testing the next few days (have another 100 movies to test it with) and wil report back to you.

    Thanks for your support.

What exactly would be the big advantage of this website compared to IMDB? I had a quick look and it doesn't seem to have much more information. It also requires a user account, I try to avoid these sites.

It looks like this is tailored more for a realtime information fetcher (integrated into the plugin that displays them in media center).

fair point... I guess the main issue was the fact of the extra step of finding the coverart... but I guess thats the lesser of the two evils.

    Hi Sam

    I have a feature request.

Can you add the option of placing a text file called "tt0468569" in the root of the movie folder that points to it's IMDB location ?

Example, i just ripped a copy of "The Dark Night" and I want to add it to the  "Video Browser" with all IMDB cover art etc...

I then place a empty file called "tt0468569" your utility would then find the file and grab the art.

So i guess it needs to run as a service and monitor the folders and sub folders.

    feature request...

i'd like the option of dropping a emtpy file called "tt0468569" in the same folder as the avi is located and then have salami's movie organizer go and collect the metadata automatically.

    what do you say ?

Thanks for this post. I didn't know about this program. Personally, I use Movienizer http://www.movienizer.com. It's very convenient, has many features and is freeware. I like the feature of organizing not only movies, but also actors. I haven't seen that in any other program.
