I am an avid MCE user and regularly post on these forums.  I know this is unrelated to MCE, but it is related to Vista SP1.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem?  If so, have you reported it anywhere?  Do you know where I could report it?

Since installing Vista SP1 upgrade, the following occurs:

    1. Set default printer on the Vista Ultimate computer.
    2. Connect remotely with Remote Desktop...default printer changes to the client's default printer...completely normal!
    3. Disconnect remote dekstop and login to the Vista Ultimate computer directly.
    4. At this point, either NO PRINTER is set as Default Printer or a random
      printer is set as default.

Help...this is driving me crazy as I regularly use this computer remotely!
I have checked the log files and there are no errors in them which appear
    related.

Yes I am having the same problem. If you save the connection as an .rdp file you can edit it and uncheck printers on the local resources tab. Now if you double click the .rdp file it will connect you and not mess up the printers on the remote computer.

Yes, that will work but it also disables use of remote printers.

I received a response from a member of the Terminal Services team:

This is a known issue with Vista SP1 and we are actively investigating fixes for this issue.

As a workaround, you can do one of the foll:

    ·         Reset the default printer when you logon back to the Vista Ultimate computer again or

    ·         If printer redirection is not necessary when you connect remotely, then unselect this option on the Remote Desktop client, when you connect to the remote server

I've found a workaround that allows redirection without requiring a manual reset of your default printer.

Create a script (2 lines) to change the default printer, then use Task Scheduler to set it to run every time you connect to a local session. Works great so far for me.

I cannot thank you enough!  I have been looking for this solution for a very long time and the solution seems so simple!

    It works great.

    Thanks again!
