VMC won't respond/resume after Pause
Greetings.
This is my first post here, but I did search as much as possible to make sure this hasn't been answered before. I'm having a problem that seriously detracts from the usability of VMC. If I pause what I'm viewing, whether live TV or through the Netflix plug-in, VMC then fails to resume or respond.
Note that I can pause it for short periods without issues. This happens only when paused for something longer, like 1-3 minutes. I first found this, for example, when I paused a show and took my dinner plate into the kitchen, grabbed a yoghurt, and then sat back down and tried to resume the show.
Once this happens, it usually requires a hard reset/reboot to fix. Plugging a mouse in to try and manipulate Windows or MC is fruitless, I never get the sound that the mouse driver is loaded, it appears as if all of Windows (not just MC) is locked up.
One time, just once, the "power" button on the remote managed to actually sleep the machine when in this state. When I woke it back up, I heard 1/2-second of live TV and the got the BSOD and a complaint with an ATI driver, I think it was atidiag or something like that.
Here's my configuration:
Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H (1.0), using onboard 780G HDMI out
Athlon64 single-core LE series
MSI version of ATI 650 PRO card (digital ATSC OTA only)
Vista Ultimate SP1, currently up to date
Latest Gigabyte and ATI drivers for everything
Thanks for any help/suggestions.
Michael

Re: VMC won't respond/resume after Pause
I tried loading XP ATI drivers and that issue is fixed. XP drivers bring some other problems, though, so it's not an acceptable solution to me. I went back to Vista drivers and the issue was back. I then backed out of SP1 and the problem disappeared again.
Without SP1 I have another annoying issue. One (only one) of the ATSC channels randomly shows about one second of a predominantly green screen with artifacts. This happens once every 1-3 minutes.
Does anyone know the specific patch in SP1 that fixes that particular issue? I'd be happy to stay pre-SP1 if the green screen flicker went away.
Thanks.
Michael
