Try with just the ATI DCT on the system. You can watch for the hit outside of media center and as soon as the card is hit you'll see those aps show up. One of my cards first did a firmware update. BTW make sure you've done the latest ATI firmware update as well. Also make sure that you've turned off the windows firewall on the two DCT tuners (which will probably be local connection 2 & 3). Seeing the ntsc channels is good which means you have a signal getting to the tuner and then to the computer. If your cable system is like ours there are no "clear QAM" channels, everything is tired and without the channel map loading into the cable card, the tuner can't fine or authorize any QAM even local HD which is re-transmitted.

There is a tech or two in each cable office that really knows cable cards and can troubleshoot them. The guy they sent to me (there were three of them here at one point when these were set up on the 16th of July) finally had a computer which was networked to the headend and he could enter the numbers and make the hits and then watch it come back over the network to hit the cards.

I just had mine installed a couple of days ago... uninstall all antivirus software. disabling is not enough. disable windows firewall. That should probably fix your problem.

Let's start from the beginning... Are you able to use the DCT without the cablecards inserted?.. Once you have verified that the DCT function, power down you machine and input one cablecard and reboot... Upon starting VMC your system should see that you inserted a CC... If you do not get any messages about a CC being inserted, we might just have a bad card...

I'll try that as soon as Austin city limits is over.

I am able to use the DCT tuners, both of them...  I haven't tried them without the cablecards though.

If you take out the cable cards make sure you mark them so that the same card goes back in the same tuner. If they have been paired, switching them will result in neither working.

I doubt they've been paired...  I was with the tech the whole time, and he never gave them the hostID, which is apparently something the tuner coughs back at you after the cablecard is verified on their network...

Sorry to ask something so simple, but do you have the cards inserted the right way? I don't mean opposite ends of the card, but the label can face left or right, so try both ways to see if that helps. I first inserted my card the wrong way since the label indicated it should go in one way, but the opposite was true in my case.

LOL....  That was it...  I assumed these cards wouldn't let you slide them in upside down...  I was wrong. Both the tech and me assumed they went in "MCard" label up, but on the internal tuners I have apparently that label needs to be facing down, with the serial numbers and all that jazz facing up.

Wow.... not feeling very smart right now... . Embarrassed [:$]

This is really a good trick with Time Warner since you have to talk to either the head end or dispatch to get someone with a computer that's linked to the head end authorization system. That's why they send out techs to install. Perhaps you can get transferred through. When you do, you'll need host ID and cable card ID for each tuner (and the host number and cable card numbers are different on each).

Thanks JohnW248 and everyone else who helped me on this one.....  I'm one the phone with Charter now and have given them the Host ID #'s to put in their "head-end"...  Hopefully it won't be too much longer and I'll be watching all my channels!!!!  Big Smile [:D]  Big Smile [:D]
