That's not what I was told by support. From an e-mail:

According to the engineering dept., drivers for QAM support in MCE should be available when the TV Pack is released.

Those two ideas are not mutually exclusive. The email you received only says the drivers will be available when tv pack is released, but does not say who they will be available to.

I'll hope you're right.  I was simply passing on what I was told.  When did you get that E-mail?

I got it on 8/25 and it was after going back and forth with Ray trying to get QAM working on my 1800. His reply was to my question about if new drivers would be made available for TV Pack support. He did not say they would be released to OEMs only. I can assume that either he expects they will be made available on the website or that he was not yet aware of any OEM only restriction. Since he was advising me to stick with the card and wait until the new drivers were posted after CEDIA, I have to believe he thought I would be able to get them.

Why did they bother updating the site with the CD 4.2? It did nothing to update driver versions and as far as I know the WinTV app is still version 6. So pretty much it was a useless update.

I received an email from hauppauge today stating that the drivers on the download page for the 1600 include the update.  i shall see when i get home today.... if anyone tries post your results.

I downloaded a set today.  3.4d1

But hte question will it owrk without the TV pack.  Time for some testing tonight hopefully.

I've uninstalled the card, and installed it with these drivers, still no clear qam in VMC.

Anyone tried this driver (for the 1800)? It's dated 8/27.

Just tried in for my 1800 (HP machine, vista ult) and no change. Still detects but won't tune anything on the QAM tuner, only uses analog.

Is it detected as QAM in VMC during TV Setup?

As I'm sure most of you could guess, tried the "new" drivers for the 1600 last night.  Same deal, only ATSC and NTSC tuners... I'm starting to think we might know more about this subject than the Hauppauge tech support, unless they are spinning us in circles on purpose.
