@DamianMehers any chance of a better VMC menu icon. The fractal icon just does not do it for me. How about a picture of a radio with the words BBC Apart from that this apps is prefect and a shinning example to every on how to make an excellent VMC app.
ladaowner: If you live in the UK or can get the iPlayer this is the best app ever. I can not recommend this enough. It is stable and well designed and fits into the media centre theme. It is just a shame that the BBC uses Real Player so it does not function on the xbox360. @DamianMehers any chance of a better VMC menu icon. The fractal icon just does not do it for me. Glad you like it -- I plan on releasing a new version soon, and will do my best re the icon :-)
It should work world-wide -- the BBC don't restrict the Radio distribution -- I live in Switzerland.
I quite like the idea of using this product but I get an invalid application error when I try running it within VMC (it's a 32 bit version). I'm also interested in the 64 bit version when it becomes available as my main VMC is 64 bit.
Any ideas why I would be getting this error?
Thanx for any help.
gazzer82:I have posted on your blog, but i though i would as here too. Any chance you could update this to install on Tv Pack versions of vista?Cheers and thanks for the fab app!!Gareth
Hi Gareth,
I'm trying to get the TV Pack installed right now -- I'll post back when I have an update. Does it not install properly?

Hi there,
Did you get any additional information when running it about what might be going wrong? If you are a little technical then you could enable the reporting of the full error stack: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb189049.aspx
I'm still working on the 64 bit version -- wasn't as straightforward as I'd hoped.
gazzer82:Damian i have found this blog which details the installer problem i was having and also how to solve it, hope it helps!!http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2008/07/24/8770953.aspxCheersGareth
Thanks Gareth that was it!
New 2.1 release at http://www.beebmc.com/ As well as making the install work with the TV Pack, I've changed the icon, and I've added scroll buttons for people using touch senstive displays.
No luck with the 64 bit version I'm afraid -- the issue is that Media Center runs as a 64 bit process, and the Real Audio plugin is a 32 bit plugin: a 64 bit process cannot load a 32 bit DLL.
gazzer82:No unfortunately it throws up a message saying that install is only supported in Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate. I believe this is a known issue with the install of the Tv Pack as it changes the ident of media center, something like that anyway. I believe the fix is quite quick, but don't quote me on that.I look forward to your update!!CheersGareth
It is an issue with the TV pack that will cause issues. It changes the "indent" setting in the registry to 5.1 from 5.0. To work around this, open up registry editor, go to the key, change 5.1 to 5.0, leave open. Run your program and it will install fine. The change back to 5.1, no reboot needed.....

I've modified the BeebMC setup so that this won't be necessary -- handy tip for other applications though.
ladaowner:just noticed if I am playing an MP3 in VMC and open your BeebMC program and play a realplayer stream the MP3 is not stopped so I have 2 channels of audio going at once.Is is possible to make your BeebMC program stop the now playing media when starting a realplayer stream?Does that make sense?
Makes a lot if sense -- I've just added this functionality and released it as version 2.2 at http://www.beebmc.com/
Could you let me know if it works for you?
