    I have Hauppauge external HVR 950Q WMC only recognize  ATSC Digital Over the Air HDTV but not Clear QAM Digital Cable TV. Any body now how can i set up QAM in WMC tv pack?

    Thanks

    Try adding this key to your registry, reboot, then rerun TV setup.

    ; HVR-950q
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HCW72DTV\Parameters]
    "AllowQAM_PowerToy"=dword:00000001

    thanks verbal11 for the info...

    I tried this:

    windows vista clean installation + WMC TV pack 2008

    Install the drivers 950Q

    Install the new registry key patch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HCW72DTV\Parameters]
    "AllowQAM_PowerToy"=dword:00000001

    Restart

    Setup via VMC

    Doesn't work no QAM channels, No option to setup cable channels

    Only said "WMV is unable to determine your tv signal configuration....."

    Any Another idea...

    I'm seeing the exact sam issue with TV Pack and the HVR-950Q.  I think our drivers aren't quite ready for TV Pack.

    Velocity Micro Cinemagix Grand Theater, C2Q, 4GB, 2 TB, (2)InfiniTV4, HDHomeRun Homebuilt C2Q, 8 GB, 1.5 TB Gateway P7805U, P8400, 4GB, 880GB, HVR-950 WHS, WRT600N, DMA-2100, (2)DMA-2200, (2)XBox360

    What drivers are you using?

    I have an EyeTV Hybrid, which is nothing but a rebranded 950Q, and I'm installing off the drivers that are available from Hauppauge.com (CD 4.2). Are there any newer drivers available that I'm not seeing?

    I also have Vista Media Center installed with the TV Pack. It will pick up and find the analog channels, and the Digital OTA, but not the QAM ones.

    I had tried 4.2 a-b, y the last one was 4.7 ver drivers, didn't work with QAM.

    I send a email to tech support that was 8/24 they said "you will not be able to get that unit to recognize Clear QAM in VMC since the Microsoft TV pack has not been officially been released to the public, so we are not allowed to publish this update till the TV pack has been released" this mean they have the update. Microsoft was suposted to publish the update this month i didn't see any official annaunce.

    Yeah, I thought the TV pack was released "officially" with SP1, as that was what I was hearing a long time ago.

    I hope these drivers come out soon!

    I use the EyeTV Hybrid with a Mac (iMac, 2.0GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 500GB, 256MB X1600) and the HD looks AMAZING on this screen. The one down side to all of this, is the On-Screen Guide and the bundled remote. It sucks. It's okay, but it's nothing amazing, it could be a LOT more intuitive, and I'd love to get this to work in VMC when I'm in Boot Camp or through Parallels/VMware Fusion. I eventually got VMC to recognize the Analog part of the tuner at least, as Vista was automatically installing EyeTV drivers (which I was oddly amazed at, but I still installed the 950q drivers and replaced the Elgato drivers with the official 950q ones through Device Manager) and I was very pleased with the UI, the guide, and the features. Just need the QAM support!

    I am having the same issue with my 950Q as well i have tried the steps in other threads but wms will never recognize it as a QAM tuner. Guess i will wait for wintv to come out with a fix.

    I can't verify that this will enable QAM channel support, but I also had trouble getting VMC to recognize analog/cable channels on my 950q.

    Try installing SoftMCE_Setup.exe in the MCE_soft_encoder folder on the Hauppauge disc that came with your tuner (or download it here). Reboot after installing.

    Seems like it takes some extra software to get VMC to recognize the analog tuner. It may also let it see QAM channels.

    Hope this helps.

    I did everything i can but still couldn't get 950q QAM in VMC. I think we may just wait for driver update.

    REGEDIT4
    ;
    ; NOTE: this file should ONLY be used to enable Clear QAM support on Fiji
    ;  (ie, "Windows Vista Media Center Feature Pack 2008")
    ;
    ; Using this file WILL break applications that only support the legacy "ATSC Network Provider"
    ; Apps must be recompiled to use the newer "MS Network Provider" if this file is used
    ;
    ; These keys control exposing support of Fiji compatible QAM for various ATSC products
    ;  (of course, the HW products must be physically capable of supportting QAM!!!)
    ;
    ; You MUST restart you system after this file is installed for the changes to take effect

    "AllowQAM_PowerToy"=dword:00000001

    ; HVR-1600 (only some models support QAM; should list them here)

    ; HVR-2250 (not yet supporrted)

    Copy the above code into a text file, save as a .reg file, and run it. Let me know if it helps.

    I tried that on 2 different machines and it didn't help.  Unless someone has some beta drivers, we will probably have to wait for an update from Hauppauge.

    This is from Hauppauge Forum a supplement to Phone/E-mail Support: Link: http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=15859

    They said:

    "We will try and post up a list of what does/doesn't work under Windows Media Center TV Pack 2008 and make it a sticky in here.

    Please note that we cannot Guarantee all products will work without issues as Media Center TV Pack 2008 is only shipped by OEM PC Manufacturers, who verify the platform they supply, however, if you post a clear indication of the problem and how to to reproduce we will do our best to look into the problem."

    They have a Threads in Forum : Windows Media Center TV Pack 2008 (All Products) link: http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/forumdisplay.php?f=89

    Maybe if we start to write in this forum the hauppage technical support team can help us to fix this problem with the  HVR 950Q

    This link is to Threads in Forum : NTSC,ATSC & QAM Products (WinTV v6) (US/Canada Only) http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/forumdisplay.php?f=83

    But I already post two thread WMC tv pack 2008 and Hauppauge HVR 950Q and Windows media center TV pack 2008 and I didn’t have a reply. I think the above links are “official thread forum” by Hauppauge .

    Got mine working and its perfect.  Gotta have the muscle in your machine to push all this stuff at the same time.  Recommend amd 9950, 9800 gtx black and mobo m3n72-d and 8 gigs ram.  Get a drive with tons of room.  Only thing I still need is another tuner so I can toss that dvr back to comcast and save my cash.  Might buy an extender for the other room and a blue ray drive for my pc.  This brings me to my next point.....extender.  I have a ps3 and it does work as an extender.  The best thing about the ps3 is that it has a blue ray disk player built in and will show in 1080p.  Shop the specs and you will see the value.  Thanks a bunch to the above posters for telling me how to get hd cable in mce.  Invaluable resource.

    Now my 950q is working with windows media tv pack 2008.

    Just install the drivers from Microsoft windows update or let windows install the drivers automatic plus

    ; HVR-950q

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HCW72DTV\Parameters]

    "AllowQAM_PowerToy"=dword:00000001

    That is all we need. I think Microsoft have the update for the driver available through windows update, I got my from there.

    I tried too connecting the 950q usb stick to the pc so windows recognize it and installed the drivers with out the cd.. it’s working fine with the QAM channels
