Can anyone using a Floppy/Fire DTV get this working?

qubito: Tony_Park: Can anyone using a Floppy/Fire DTV get this working? Tony Tony, I can confirm Floppy DTV wokring with TV Pack. I have FDTV S2 working but you need to get the latest firmware and the Beta integrated driver setup (v. 5.2.N). See this link --> http://www.digital-everywhere.com/en/alcms/index.php?sid=1220202904 I can confirm BBCHD, Luxe TV HD & ITV HD working.

Yes, my setup is 2x FloppyDTV-S2 and it works happily for me, for BBC HD, ITV HD, Luxe HD, and HD channels off Hotbird & Astra 19.2.
But not Channel 4 HD - I'd love to know how to get that working....
Jim
Suyre i read somewhere that sky have thr rights to the encryption of channel 4 hd so its is not possible to get it at the moment but i think this is changing soon
I wondered if that was the case, but the fact that it doesn't appear in my Channel list (and scanning the transponder finds no new channels) means we can't find out!
Nightfox,
I susspect its not your graphics card that is the problem, but your processor. I am pretty sure that Vista does not use hardware acceleration for H.264 decoding. It relies on the processor. Your P4 3.2 GHz is not quite up to it. Have you tried looking at CPU usage during HD playback? Is it maxed out?
My experience is that you need at least a dual core CPU. I have a quad core Q6600 and it runs at between 30% and 50% during BBC HD playback (under Windows 7 ) with all four cores sharing the load.
You might also want to increase the amount of RAM. 1GB might be a bit low.
Ben
NightFox:Thanks for the reply Ben. I can't check the CPU load during HD playback as for some reason with TV pack installed I can't run VMC in a window, or switch to another task. I suspect you may be right though, as I've tried playing back recorded material from BBC HD on my "main" PC which is a dual core, and it works fine, even with the same graphics card. It was my understanding that newer graphics cards could handle HD decoding, so before I go down the expensive CPU/MB/RAM upgrade route I've ordered a ATi 3450 to see if that helps. It won't be money wasted as it can go in my upgraded system if I do need to upgrade.
Well, tried the ATi 3450 (£35) and it does take the HD load off the CPU as I hoped - I've got perfect BBC HD now, even with a fairly old spec system. If I use the reg hack to allow ITV HD my BBC HD goes black after about a second, even if I've not watched ITV HD, and restarting the PC or juust VMC makes no difference. No worries, I can live without ITV HD right now.
ASM495, perhaps you would like to add this info to the first post, it solves some problems with TV Pack. See the post linked to below.

I have got Vista SP1 and TV Pack 2008 on a Vaio with NVidia 8500GT graphics and Hauppauge WinTV HD-S2.
I tried to install the hacked MSDTVVDEC.DLL file and had problems with messages such as "dllunregisterserver error code 0x80070005. So I did the whole thing in Safe mode and it seemed to work.
However, I noticed that my original version of the DLL file was about 750Kb, whilst the hacked one is 1.5 Mb. Is that correct?
Anyway, after installing it, none of my TV channels could be accessed any more, SD or HD. It said the Video codec was missing or something...
So I moved the old DLL file back, did a system restore, and I'm back to viewing SD channels again.
So what did I do wrong?
