I'm having an issue with my Media Center config which hopefully someone will have an idea about.
My HTPC has a Radeon 3450 which connects to a Sharp 46" LCD TV via a DVI to HDMI cable. If the TV is off when the HTPC resumes from standby then the display is not initialised. If I then turn the TV on later the display is blank and the only way I've found to get it to come back on is to restart it or put it into standby and resume again. Obviously this does not work too well if the PC is recording at the time!
If the TV is on when the PC resumes from standby then the display comes up as expected. Does anyone know a way to force this behaviour so that even when the TV is turned off a signal is sent to the DVI output on the graphics card please?
Thanks!
I have the same issue and get around it by using hdmion and pstart to setup a hotkey that turns the graphics output off and on again.
I use a harmony remote and by pressing the green button it sends the vmc start signal and the hdmion signal together.

I think there is a hardware solution but I can't remember what it's called (dvi doctor / dvi detective ?)
There is this thread you could check

Great, thanks for the pointer. I'll try that tonight!

Hi asm495
Following your help on these forums I am using tv pack with 'hacked' h264 codec via g35 graphics and I am generally very pleased with only slight pixelation on bbc hd
I am experiencing similar problems to you with blank screen or change in resolution if changing input on AVR or switching tv on or off
Also I lose my hdmi mlpcm sound on resume from s3 sleep but get it back if restart media center
All very annoying especially as I want to make it wife friendly !
So I would be interested in your experiences with any software and hardware solutions
Hardware looks ok but expensive and need to be imported and come with US power supply
I have g35 chipset and the following post over on avsforums has info on various hardware solutions :
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=14970333
The other problem which I believe you may also experience ( from reading your other post on ' working tv pack setups ' ) is Pinnacle driver failure after resume from s3 sleep - get blue screen video decoder failure so can only record from blackgold dvbt tuner and not pinnacle satellite tuner
I think you have Pinnacle 7010 and I have the 4000 - this problem occurs on every resume for me but may be less frequent for you
The following post on the Pinnacle forums may interest you regarding this :
http://forums.pinnaclesys.com/forums/thread/235678.aspx
Crispy mentions using devcon to restart pinnacle drivers and using vbs scipt and batch file in start up folder to kick start drivers at every resume
In another post he also mentions doing something similar to close and restart media center on every resume to provide a more stable environment
I am not competent enough to do this
Can you help with any stepwise instructions please as Crispy has not yet responded ?
Thanks

holidayboy - how did you manage to add this action to the Harmony remote to activate the hdmion application??
Maybe someone else can tell me how to add this action to a Harmony remote via PStart for instance??
Thanks.
I use a harmony 1000 remote.
I set up a hotkey in pstart for hdmion and then set up a sequence command in the harmony setup.
First I had to learn the code from my mce ir keyboard for the key combo and tie it to the media center device in the harmony software.
Then I set the start button on the harmony remote as a sequence command that sends the hdmion signal followed by the green button signal.
I guess if you dont have a ir keyboard it could be difficult.
I don't know if it's possible for me to upload custom commands to the harmony system somehow?
