I've gotten a number of newer BluRay titles that don't play in my current version of HP DVD Play (2.42).

I've been reading a number of older posts here regarding both Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre and Cyberlink PowerDVD for playing BluRay discs.  People have mentioned Trial versions available but I can no longer seem to find a downloadable trial version of TMT anywhere.  Has ArcSoft stopped making the trial version available?

Also, when I went looking for a trial version of PowerDVD, the Cyberlink site claims one of the limitations of the trial version is that it won't play BluRay discs!  If that's the case, the trial version wouldn't help me test against the BDs I've got.

I wanted to test other programs before I put out $70 or more.  In the absense of being able to "try" either TMT or PowerDVD I guess the only other alternative is to see if newer versions of DVD Play are in progress which might fix the problems.

Can anyone who's bought and installed the latest version let me know:

1) Do recent BluRay titles play correctly with it?  Titles I have which don't work with my current player are Futurama, Incredible Hulk, Narnia 2, Kung Fu Panda and WALL-E.  Has anyone verified these titles do work with TMT?  (BTW, if it makes a difference, I do not have an internet connection on this machine; I'd expect the movies to play but the BDLive features to not be available.)

2) Has anyone made use of the "Time Stretch" functionality of the software.  According to the web site, it sounds like I should be able to play a recorded DVR-MS file at 2X speed with audio.  I've been doing this now by extracting the MPEG2 data from the DVR-MS and then using ULead video editing SW to play it at 200%.  If ArcSoft TMT lets me do the same directly from the DVR-MS files, this would be helpful.  So, can anyone give me any info on this functionality?

Currently, TMT does not work at all in Windows 7 and according to the TMT forums, it doesn't launch in Vista SP2 either.

I have PowerDVD currently working in Windows 7 (build 6956 and 7000) and have yet to meet a BluRay it couldn't play.  That said, I have had some audio synch issues with PowerDVD that i did not see with either WinDVD or TMT on my old Vista build.

I am running this on an S1Digital Platinum Edition rig with 2 GB of RAM and an nVidia 8500 GT with the latest drivers.

TMT on Vista SP1 is fine for me, tried Hancock and MI2 bluray, no issue.

Not tried the time stretch- interesting.

My LG combo came with PowerDVD HD "lite" pack but I bought TMT rather than the PowerDVD after reading comments in forums, happy with choice.

That's what I did and it said "Windows Vista Home Premium" only.  There was no SP2 or SP1 or SPanything in the output.  So I'm guessing it was the original release with no service pack applied.

Not tried the time stretch- interesting.

I'd really like to know if anyone has used this feature.  I've found that 2X viewing is wonderful for certain types of programs (news and other talking heads; some game shows; etc.) because you can get through it in under half the time (skipping commercials as well).  But it only works if you get audio and it's time compressed (speeded up) but not frequency compressed (Doppler shifted).

The mechanism I use now works, sometimes, but there are issues.  It works best for low bandwidth digital transmissions, but not as well for high bandwidth.  (Sometimes the MPEG-2 extraction doesn't work and sometimes trying to play the high bandwidth MPEG at 200% doesn't work.)  It'd be nice if MCE would directly allow playing at 2X, but another program that can play the DVR-MS file directly at 2X is almost as good (if it works).

One more thing .....  The TMT manual lists the OS requirements as ``Windows XP SP2/Vista 32'' .. I've got the 64-bit version of Vista; will this still work (in 32-bit emulation mode)?

Any version of TMT after .119 runs just fine in x64.  I think the current version is .128.  I've used TMT for several months on 2 different x64 HTPC's.

After you install it, reboot.  Then run the TMT.  It is an old demo, but once you run the demo, it will update to the current version.
