    Hi,

I've set up Vista MCE, along with the TV Pack and hacked DLL.

Everything seems to work fine, but I can get no sound on BBC HD, all other channels work fine.

I think its a codec issue. When I built the system I installed FDDShow, and then after, whilst trying to fix the no sound issue, I installed AC3Filter - but still no sound.

Any ideas - Do I need to tell VMCE to use AC3Filter?

    Cheers.

Vista with TV Feature Pack should work with BBC HD without the need for FFDShow and AC3Filter.

If you remove the "hacked DLL," FFDShow, and AC3Filter, do you get sound?

I thought I couldn't remove the hacked dll - isn't it time stamped and we are past the time?

I'm sure I read somewhere that BBCHD used AC3 for sound? Are you sure I don't need it?

    Hi,

So I'm not sure about the hacked DLL you're referring to, but with TV Feature Pack 2008, msdtvvdec.dll and msdtvadec.dll are used.

For BBC HD, I believe the video is H.264 and the audio may be AC3.

I'm not sure you need AC3Filter.  Depending on how your audio is configured (SPDIF versus Analog Audio), you would either get AC3 pass through to your Receiver (assuming it supports Dolby Digital decode) or Multichannel PCM to your analog speakers (Stereo PCM if you have 2 speaker setup, Multichannel PCM if you have 5.1 speaker setup).

One other thing you can check is disabling some audio FX.  Do this by starting Media Center, navigate to Tasks->Settings->TV->Audio.  Then uncheck Auto Volume.

    Thanks

    Philip
