Can anyone out there give me some tips and tricks on how to best set up my system.  I have the following:-

    - Gigabyte GA-8K Ultra9 motherboard

    - 4 gb pc3200 DDR memory

    - ATI All In Wonder HD card connected to OTA antenna in Bay Area, California

For example some questions that I am not sure about are:

    1) What's the best MPEG2 decoder to set as my default

    2) Why can't I get all the KQED subchannels?

    3) How to get my pc to wake up with teh ATI remote?

    4) Other tweaks I should make?

    5) Other software I should download?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.  I am spending waaay too much time setting this stuff up.

This is possibly a matter of user preference.  IMHO, for Windows Media Center TV, I recommend using the inbox MS MPEG2 decoder (msmpeg2vdec.dll).

    2) Why can't I get all the KQED subchannels?

Just to make sure, in Vista, we remap the subchannels in Guide by adding a 1000 to them.  Thus, if you have a local channel of 13.2, then we'd remap the channel in the guide to 1132.  In TV Feature Pack 2008 and Win7, I believe we changed so that we would actually show the subchannels in Guide with no crazy remapping.

Also, make sure you have the latest/greatest tuner drivers.  Also, if you still cannot get the subchannels, there are ways to manually add these channels/frequencies.

I believe there are some old postings about this.  Just got to search for them in the forums.
