Any Chance of Remote Streaming to the iPhone from MCE?

Like from Sling, or Orb?

Anyone working on it, or is it even possible?

(Just got a new 32 gig 3G s, and would love to be able to stream to it - the Sling player works so well with it, but I'd rather stick with MCE, if I can.)

Well, Orb will get the job done for sure...I'm pretty sure they have an app for it. As for actual MCE support...good luck. I wouldn't hold my breath considering MS can't even get that going on for the Zune or anything else. I don't see them supporting the iPhone. We just now got internet streaming in WMP.

Orb definitely works.  I run it on my WHS and can view whatever I want just fine on my iPhone.  I store all my data on the server.

I got the OrbLive application for the iPhone, and WOW!!! it works very nicely :-)

Over 3G, streaming 720p mkvs it buffers occasionally at the start of a movie (then it gets better), and the frame-rate is kind of too low. But streaming TV from the Hauppauge tuner works well. Music and photo are also fine.

With WiFi, it streams very nicely, including the 720p mkvs, with smooth frame-rates.

Now just be careful not to go over your 5GB data cap (you have AT&T?)

Of course Slingbox works! Sling can stream anything that you can watch on your television. I have a dedicated Linksys Extender that only serves content to the Slingbox (I travel a lot) for playback on my iPhone. The iPhone app is WiFi only right now, but if you jailbreak your phone, you can use Tricker3G to make the Slingplayer client work over 3G.

For what it's worth, OrbLive streams everything too, including live TV, and it does it over 3G :-)

It really rocks! And so far, it's rock-solid.

Now THAT is interesting!  If that works for cablecard content, I just might go for it.

It works great with cablecard recorded content since it is taking the analog, component output from the extender and streaming it.

I only have DSL at home and I'm concerned about my upload speed and how it would affect the streaming capability.  It is the Elite package with upload speed of 768Mbps.  Would I get a decent viewing experience if I had a decent connection at the other end? 

I also travel alot and spend considerable time in hotels, this would provide a great way to access all the DRM protected content I currently have, if the connection speed is acceptable.

I have Comcast cable with a theoretical upstream of 1.5Mbit. It works fine. I wouldn't call it great, but it is very acceptable. The most frustrating thing is when the lame hotel network gets overloaded between 7pm and 10pm and slows to a crawl...
