despite never adding them, i can't get rid of my f: hdd, and network drives, from Videos section of VMC, and I can't get rid of them from library settings because they aren't listed as viewable.  can i remove these?

Are you are speaking of the folders and drives showing up as an option even though they contain no media?
If yes, I had the same problem at one time. I believe I corrected it by editing the "watched" folders followed by a re-boot.

no, it's whole f drive plus a folder or two

There are loads of threads on here covering this - you basically need to delete any items you don't want to show up from the library in media player, then you may possibly need to delete the existing media player cache and set the monitored folders up how you want.
