Assuming that W7 will also bring us the relaxed DRM firmware for the ATI CableCARD tuners, what does it take to watch recorded TV on another system, i.e., does that system need to also have a ATI CableCARD tuner?

Yea, they need to improve this... FULL softsled... even for DRM encrypted recordings...

JatorIf it's not copy protected, just has to be a Win7 or Win Vista + TV Pack. If it's still copy protected, you are SOL. (Copy protection is determined by the broadcaster in that case, not the cable tuner itself).
As much as I don't know, I do know that the ATI firmware updage will allow you to watch on another system most things that are recorded on a CableCARD system. I know that some of this is up to the broadcaster, but right now Media Center lists everything as "copy protected." The firmware upgrade would be of no value in this case.
I also know that this will not work for any TV shows recorded with CableCARD before the new Firmware and thus the statement that is just has to be W7 of Vista +TV pack cannot be true. It is my understanding that it will never work with Vista + TV Pack, only with W7. I hope I am wrong, but that is what has been said in another thread in TGB
The last time I asked about this I thought I heard that only the channels that are currently clear QAM that becone encrypted with DRM as soon as you insert the cableCARD will be watchable on other machines.
I hope is is set by the broadcaster, rather than simply the clear QAM channels as this would open basic cable rather than just allowing broadcast channels.
