hey guys, I'm looking for anew tv tuner to replace my nova t500 as I can't put up with its standby issues anymore.  I'm looking at either the compro e700 or the kworld KW-PE355-2T.  I can't find a single mention about this kworld card anywhere but alot of the feedback I've read about the compro isn't filling me with confidence.  For this reason I'm leaning to the kworld but I'm just interested in what you guys think.  I mean are kworld as a company any good or do they put out rubbish and then provide no support when the drivers dont work like some other companies do.  So what do you think, worth going for the kworld or not?  You guys know alot more about this kinda thing then me so your help is really appreciated.

I don't have any hands-on experience of KWorld products unfortunately, although I did investigate them a while ago. Products seemed impressive enough, but that's as far as I got. What I can tell you is that Compro were (last time I checked) using re-badged Terratec products. I have first hand knowledge of Terratec (DT2400i) twin DVB-T tuner, and I had a nightmare with it. I think the hardware was capable enough, but the drivers were awful. They don't call them Terrible-tec for nothing. Compro could have re-written the drivers though, which would be a good thing. Strange thing was, I dumped with 2400i for a Nova-T 500, and never looked back!

    Thanks,  tman.

Not sure which tuner was at issue, but at least one recent poster found that his Kworld tuner was at fault for poor reception. Here is a useful comparison site: http://www.hdtvtunerinfo.com/comparetuners.html

Well it looks like the compro is out then... pinnacle seems to be another choice but I can't seem to find any around... as for the t500 it is a great card providing your system is always on, it has been giving me nothing but hassles with standby because of it really being a usb device on a pci card... anyways if anyone has any other suggestions then I would appreciate it, otherwise it looks like I'll take a punt on the kworld

The Hauppague 2250 works great for me in Win 7. It does have some issues in Vista and MCE2005. No problems recording out of standby. I have two in one PC and a single in another. EDIT: Oops, I see you are looking for DVB-T.

Excellent question: Are KWorld any good? Particularly the PE355-2T Dual DVB-T Digital Tuner Card. Since I lost my Black Gold I've had all sorts of problems trying to get a stable system:

I completely 2nd the issue about S3 problems with the Nova-T-500. I now have a Compro VideoMate E700, and am seeing some of the same issues although a lot less frequently - but still enough for me to want to try another. The card sometimes can't be found after resuming from S3. I'm fairly confident now that there is a conflict with my Mobo (ASUS M2A-VM) on these cards, as they both end up sharing interrupts with the USB hub controller. Unfortunately being a microATC board I haven't really got spare slots to play with. I know Black Golds work perfectly, but boy are they expensive!

Anyone had any experience of the KWorld Dual DVB-T cards?

I purchased the kworld tuner mentioned about 2 weeks ago now and so far so good.  Haven't had a single issue coming out of standby, changes channels a little slower than the t500 but its not a major issue and it doesn't seem to have any issues finding all the same channels either.  Albiet I do have a good signal but still some tuners are notably bad for finding channels.  I haven't been able to properly put it through its paces but so far so good.  I am using mediaportal btw and was going to use the t500 as a second tuner but the standby issues still prevent it from working this way.  The only issues I've had so far with the card is using DVBGuide I cant seem to grab epg from the kworld tuner so atm I'm still using my t500 for this.  Apart from that though I can't fault it, oh except for the kworld site being under construction so atm there is no support and no drivers downloads, I had to use the driver off the disk but it seems to work fine.  Hope this helps someone looking to buy one of these tuners.

I just got the KWorld PE355 Dual DVB-T tuner and installed it in my new HP Pavilion 5210 (Slimline) with Windows 7 as a replacement Media Centre for my dying Acer... Having problems with the signal which isn't the bad weather - if I plug the aerial into the TV the signal is fine, but through the tuner card there seems to be a delay in lip sync and a lot of interruption in the signal. Tried contacting Novatech who I bought it from but no joy as yet. Also, the installation CD doesn't work under Windows 7. Be warned!

Looks good, well built, great spec and two tuners!. What else do you want from a card. Well actually, a lot. I'd like it to show clear, artefact free pictures. The drivers are certainly not mature yet and with the Chinese factory on a months holiday celebrating their new year you can forget a quick response. In a nutshell don't bother, not yet anyway. In the end I returned it and bought an Avermedia M779 PCIe card from eBay for £17. Installed, put in the driver and it worked a treat, no worrires. A single tuner that works beats a twin tuner that gives nothing. Update - after contacting KWorld, the informed me of this new driver. ftp://ftp.kworld.com.tw/kworld/CD/Special/PE355-2T/Driver/PE355-2T_Driver_V1.5.61.090918.zip -Spikey
