I just got the Windows 7 RTM. The only thing keeping me from upgrading my Vista HTPC install is WebGuide. I really use the remote scheduling functionality quite a bit and find it hard to believe there is no good integrated solution for Windows 7. I've heard the rumors that it will be integrated into "Mesh" at some point, but for now, nothing.

Am I missing something? I took a look at Orb, but don't like how it's independent from Media Center. Is there anything else worth looking at?

 Not that I know of.  But, Engadget posted some predictions for the CEDIA 2009 Conference in September.  Hopefully the new Webguide will be coming out.  That's what I'm hoping for - that and the Dish Network intergration. :)

WebGuide was the only reason I hestitated at first to go ahead with upgrading my Vista Home Premium HTPC, but eventually, I decided to upgrade, because of all the enhancements in Windows 7 and Media Center I couldn't wait anymore. I decided to do an in-place upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium in order to preserve all my CableCARD recordings and then do an Anytime Upgrade to Windows 7 Professional in order to get Remote Desktop. Since I have a Windows Home Server, I can now remote desktop to my HTPC from anywhere and just launch Media Center to schedule something. It was kind of handy to have the ability to schedule from my smartphone with WebGuide, but the lack of a guide search function really put a damper on that experience anyway and I rarely used it.

The lack of WebGuide support is what makes Windows 7 a non runner for me at the moment.

I know that icetv.au.com have remote scheduling as part of their feature set. However, it probably doesnt work in the US.
