Hi y'all,
Never had a problem with this until today. When I select a movie from my Netflix queue (Vista WMC) and hit play, I get the normal red screen that says "NETFLIX" but it's not pulling in the movie and doesn't stream. Normally at this red screen there will be a progress bar at the bottom saying things like acquiring licenses, or determining your connection speed... shortly after that it starts playing the movie. Now I just have the red screen, no bar, no movie.
I can stream via my PS3 or via a web browser fine from the same PC. Called Netflix, they checked my Silverlight version and said everything was fine on their end, and mine, and that the problem was with Microsoft. They transfered me to their help line and MS want $60 to troubleshoot this problem (omfg!!!). I've unstalled the Netflix "plugin" and reinstalled from the file provided by Microsoft, no luck. Vista SP2 installed.
Problem just started today. Have streamed movies from this box in the past (actually do it quite often).
Help!
Hi, I just started having this problem today too... I have a similar set up (Vista WMC SP2) and it has been working great for quite a while now and all of a sudden today we tried to stream a movie and it sits on the red "Netflix" screen and does nothing.
Browser based streaming works fine, my other machines in the house stream from Netflix just fine... anyone have any idea what is going on here?
Same here. Nothing has changed to my system. Red screen, no progress bar.
same thing here. what is going on i wonder?
Mine quit working today too. So far as I know no updates were applied to my system (Windows Updates are set to notify, I don't know if Netflix updated itself or not).
Based on the above I suppose calling Netflix won't do any good....

Same here. System stopped working for me on 11/7/2009
I've tried the following with no luck
Browser based viewing works perfectly. But I want the use of my remote. This was a selling point for my investment in this HTPC.
I was going to restore to the factory default before reading this. Nowe that I know for sure it's not just my machine. I'll wait for M$ to come out with a fix. Perhaps it will "self resolve".
I just called Netflix, and they told me there has been a two-day problem with the Silverlight player on Vista Media Center. The guy gave me the MS phone number to call: 866-234-6020. I called, and no one was available to take my call. There is a post about this on the MS forums: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-SG/vistaperformance/thread/eb4a952b-bfdb-4a3a-ac32-f6b15fb02a3e.
Anyone have any ideas?
Same as everyone else, although I was first getting a message with something about the website either not working with Media Center or not working with a remote control for navigation. Never saw this one before ( I don't even have a remote connected). It gave me the option to save something to the desktop for later viewing, try again and ignore, and cancel. I hit ignore and still get nothing.
Mine's working too.
