     HI,

I working on building a HTPC. Can I hookup my Disknetwork VIP622 HD DVR to the HTPC. I know I'll need a TV turner, but which one will work good. Which cables will work best?

What can expect VMC to be able to do with the 622? will the 2 units comunicate well? I have not built to PC yet. I have all the hardware/software figured out but this. Can I control the 622 through VMC and HTPC remote? Will I see the 622 menus as part of the VMC screen? The 622 is currently hooked up to my 50" HD TV (HDMI)

I know this DVR and HTPC is a bit of overkill. I'm going to use the HTPC mostly for my backup/plaback of my purchased dvd collection.

I have a dish VIP622 and Vista HTPC set up in my living room. There's no compatibility between the two that I've been able to figure out. The only way I've been able to "use" them together is to output S-Video to the HTPC from the VIP622, and use an IR blaster to change the channels, no HD, no Dish menus (although I prefer the MC Guide, it doesn't cut off titles, etc), since you don't need the HTPC for DVR purposes, I wouldn't even bother, just get a nice remote and switch between the two.

I could not agree more...Dual DVRs is just asking for trouble (never mind the delay of even watching live tv or just changing the channel). If dish comes back an offers a Media Center tuner, then move to that but, besides doing the S-video method or trying to dig up a HD-PVR, I would just switch between the 2.

I would not even think about watching HD in SD and that is what you'll get with S-video.
