Hi.
I really need help.. im losing my hair over this program.
Im a new vista user, and recently found the wonderfull windows media center recording program.. at least i thought.
Anyways, i been pulling my hair out for my LATEST issue...
on a recording, only the first 2 minutes of my recording has audio...
Ironically, i have my MC to start recording 2 minutes before the show starts.
everything is fine, and it starts on time, and video and audio records.. but at the 2 minute mark, only video is recorded.. there is no sound at that point. BUT
... if i play the recorded wtv file in MC, it works fine video and audio.
IF i play the file in any other program ( media player, powerdvd, movie maker), the audio stops after 2 minutes.
If i convert to dvrms ( which is a nightmare on its own in vista) its still the same issue, no audio after 2 minutes.
Of course this leads to the inability to encode with movie maker, or any other program .
I have tried, dvrtool box. mcebuddy.. all those programs that seem to work great for people, just crash on my computer, or dont work at all...
i already checked the basic newbee thing, volume control, as i said the first 2 minutes records audio, then stops..

now, if MC plays my original wtv file WITH video and audio, then i KNOW the audio IS there...but any other program the audio stops at 2 minutes. (actually i dont care about all programs, i just need the transcoded dvrms file to be able to be used in movie maker)

of course, MAYBE the dvrms file ruins the file? i use the only thing that works. todvrmsgui

i know this is a long post, so ill lay out the as much info here hoping someone can say "do this" and it will magially solve my problem

all updates up to date, latest drivers etc.

facts:

mc records most of the time.

wtv recorded video and audio play fine in MC

wtv file plays video and 2 minutes of audio in media player, then likes to crash media player

same thing for powerdvd8

 converted to dvrms file, then MC, MP and powerdev loses audio after 2 minutes.

(posible problem during converting to dvrms)?

anyways.. seriously, i only have so much hair left...

any advice?

also, is there anyway i can copy or use W7 "wtvconverter.exe" on my vista machine? my frined sent me his wtvconverter.exe file, and dll, but when i run it it says not a valid 32application...

please, im running out of hair, i need help asap...

UPDATE:
 I found out that when the audio is lost, the recording went from Dolby digital 2.0 192kbps to a 1.0 96kbps stream. that is when audio cuts out.
Why does Media center change the audio recording format mid recording?
