It seemed like there was a lot of chatter on this when the image of the tuner was leaked and a little when the Beta program started.. but I haven't heard anything about them since. Did the Beta participants even get the boxes? Has anybody with the tuners posted anything about their experience with them?

The beta users since a non-disclosure agreement so they won't be able to comment.  Regardless, news of the tuner won't help since it won't be usable until the Media Center update comes out late 2008/early 2009.

I spoke with Directv today. They promised full roll-out to all customers that would happen in November!

any inquiries I have made have always resulted in "Please be informed that any proposed new equipment or enhancements to current equipment are subject to change until a formal announcement is made".

Currently my brother and I are looking to buy a house together.  So there wont be any changes to my setup (unless something breaks) until then whether it be dumping media center for a directv dvr or otherwise.

when I explained to my wife the situations regarding cablecard, sdv, hdpc-20, tvpack2008 her response was "EFF THAT, your lucky i even let you run media center in the first place".  as much as I would like to hold out for native DirecTV support, i dont think my marriage could handle it (finacially and emotionally).

Yes, I unfortunately think that ol' striker is just having fun with the masses yearning for DirecTV on the Media Center. Note that he added his new account and made only this single post on the same day.

Given recent requests at home for Discovery and Nat Geo content I could easily swing a DirecTV upgrade right now, but I don't think they will have the solution ready in my window. I don't think I am to the point of eBaying my Media Center and moving to a DirecTV (or other) DVR, but that day may come soon....

Couldn't DirecTV do what HDHomeRun did and write a virtual tuner driver?

    Just my 2 cents....
