What are the options for touchscreen remotes, be they wired panels or wireless?  So far I've not seen any that have the looks and useability of MCE.  Most I've tried look very shabby and are buggy or missing features for the TV.

     So far I've found

    ngRC (doesn't support Windows7)
    MCEGuru (Buggy EPG)
    Ricavision Vave100 (Went bust)
Logitech remotes (no green button, no documentation to preview online)
Two apps on iTunes (Fisher Price looks for paid apps)
7" touchscreen in clone mode (my preferred option so far)
Autonomic Controls (Looks hugely expensive, needs Crestron ancilliaries)
Universal Remote Control big colour touchscreen remote (No EPG or coverart wasted on that level of hardware)
Philips Pronto TSU9x00 (cannot be bought by consumers)

    Any others?  Cash waiting.

Sadly I listed all those and more, in the orignal post.

The Universal Remote MX-6000 does list cover art.  Although it does not have an EPG yet.  Nevertheless, I couldn't be happier with the remote.  I even have it programmed to control all my lights through Mcontrol.  It is pricey however ($1000 for the remote and another $250 for the software from Autonomic).

The URC and Pronto are decent options but at that price point I think it is too much to spend to not get all of the feature set out of it. I have been watching Mimo Monitors for a bit now and they seem to really be stepping up the touch screen game. I've tried various solutions for the Touch Screen Integration to Media Center and really have not been satisfied. Mimo just announced a new revised touch screen and it should be out within the next four to eight weeks. The price has not been announced but based off their other offerings it has to fall in that $200 to $250 range. The model of the new panel is the 720-S, once it is released I'll post on here how it works; that will be my next HTPC purchase.

Yes I saw the MIMO 720-S come through on Engadget a couple of days ago, at 800*480 how will my GFX card handle one display at 1080p and one at 480 in clone mode?

I'm hoping that at the conference next week, MS bring out some show stoppers like Softsled and Zune HD full EPG remote.

It won't you can't have two screens at different resolutions in clone mode.

And if someone knows different I'm your new best friend!

You cant do 2 different resolutions natively but Gefen makes a product that will allow it. Its a DVI to RGBS scaler, if you hook this up you can do 2 different resolutions.  As for my touchscreen set up I actually use an ipod touch.  The only downside is I have to use 3 different programs.

    1) If the TV is off and I want to listen to music I use VMCmote which shows playlists and cover art and everything else

    2) I use Intelliremote to control my media center pc when the TV is on, works like any other universal remote but it has a built in keyboard and mouse!

    3) I use ZWave Commander to control my lights from the ipod touch and mControl to control them from my HTPC.

Not 100% sure what you were looking for but just though I would throw it out there.

knurrjos:  I was kinda hoping that ~$300 for an iPod touch plus ~$30 for applications would be enough!

For that kind of spend, I'm demanding the full graphical interface of VMC.

I undersand, but I bought the touch on eBay for 170 so the setup only cost 200. If you find what you are looking for please post because it is what I was looking for. Be aware the only way to run two diffent resolutions is with gefen and it cost about 300 dollars by it self

I gues the only option is to find a touchscreen monitor that can accept a 1080p input and downsample to the native resolutuion.   I'm sure the larger 15"-17" types can do that.

  •

     Yup, that is absolutely right.

What you want is one of these babies!

    They will do 1080p

I have 1080p going to my 58" plasma and to my 7" touchscreen.  I use a Gefen VGA to DVI scaler plus.  That way I can clone MCE on both (for when I only want music, dont have to turn the plasma on).  Now, if someone can find a way to run Bluray on a clone setup (even if only to one of the 2 screens), you would be my new best friend.  I only had it wokring with Superbad, one of the other flicks I tried wouldnt display.
