Recently purchased a DMA2100 and generally happy with performance however do not want to leave my Media PC on 24/7 . Although my Lan card supports WOL, the DMA2100 does not seem to issue the correct packet to achieve wake up from S3.
Since The USB wake up function is less demanding would a LAN to USB convertor provide a work around ? Anyone tried this ?
Thanks Mike
Not tried a LAN to USB converter. Only way I've managed to get this to work is to have a service which runs 24/7 on my WHS which monitors the IP of the Extender and will send a Wake signal to the HTPC when necessary. I think this service was posted on this site so have a search for it.
If you don't have another PC on 24/7 then if you have a router where you can configure the firmware then I think they can be modified to do something similar.
Thanks for reply - I have another PC but do not want that running 24/7 either when there is no need. Not using a router but 'home plugs'. Think i'll check out the LAN / USB option a bit more - if this doen't fly I might try infrared over coax receiver /transmitter and wake up from my infrared receiver that the VMC uses already - if only linksys..........

ASM: I too was using a service on my home server to wake the media center when the extender was turned on. However I've replaced my home server and despite nearly 30 minutes searching I can't find it.
Can you check the service to see if there's anything that would help me search - a name, or a website in an about link?
Thanks
Pete
