"The Windows media center receiver service terminated unexpectedly" when watching certain local HD channels

Here's my situation. I have a Ceton InfiniTV CableCard tuner on Windows 7 Home Premium & Media Center.

When I open Media Center and go to channel 702 (WICZDT -FOX) the picture stutters then freezes. When I try to change channels - i get an error from MCE saying that no tuners are available. I need to then reboot the computer in order to watch Live TV.

I had contacted Ceton and they suggested I replace my cablecard - which i did - and the same thing happened with the new card.

I even tried hooking up my old SiliconDudt HDHomeRun ATSC tuner to pick up the station in the clear. Same problem.

Since the HDHomeRun is a network tuner, I tried teh same with two other different Windows 7 computers... each showed the exact same symptom.

So, I guess I either have a problem with a bug in Media Center, or something is wacky about my cable providers stream.

Anyone else have any similar occurances? and how did you deal with it?

Thanks!

Jason

I would say it has something to do with the cable company if you are getting the same result with a different tuner and different PCs.

You might want to contact Ceton again and let them know what you did to test this issue.  Sometimes they will have users do a capture of the data stream and will sometimes also contact the cable provider when there are issues.

I am 99% certain that this issue is a bug in Windows that we are currently pushing Microsoft to fix.  If you are still experiencing this issue, please open a ticket with Ceton and note in it that I requested that you open it.
