I don't know how many times I've rebuilt this thing, and it still shows as being corrupted, Why? Apparently the Internet is dead wrong as to the track information posted for any given album. The Artists have used these same tracks on so many different combonations of "Best of", "Anthonlgy", "Very Best of", Artist name before, Artist name after, etc, etc, that wmp12 can't decypher which set of tracks goes on which album... And then there is tha original infomation thats on the CD itself, which in some cases is different again. And hevean forbid that you don't have a two disc set, I have a copy of "Come Sail Away: The Styx Anthology" a two Disc set that claims all 35 tracks are on disc 1, but I have two track 1s, two track 2s, two track 3s, etc Plus I have the original CD in my hands that says track 1 for disc 1, is actually track 2, on disc 2, but wmp12 shows only disc 1. And Yes, I can manually change the info by again going to the Internet and chosing the album and applying the info, but each time I rebuild the library, the changes are discarded and the same corrupt info is put back in place. And thats not all, I have tried to change the info on the track itself by right clicking>properties>details tab to manually change the info and it refuses to let me do that, all the tracks are supposed to be on disc 1, no ifs ands or buts... I can't even start a new paragraph with this new web page, I just want to know How I can perminantly change the track info for my mp3 song files? This is the stupidest Library change to date, I just want the original track info that came on the CD, the Internet is wrong, wrong, wrong, and wmp12 refuses to let it go, I can't even turn it off...

You can try clearing out the contents in this folder. Next time you open WMP or WMC the library should rebuild itself

    C:\Users\userprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player

  •

Are you sure that in WMP inside Tools>Option you have unchecked the following:

In the Player tab: Connect to the internet (unchecked)

In the Library Tab: Retrieve additional information from the Internet (unchecked).

If not do so, then delete all the library files (wmdb) mentionned by Rabbit1543, restart and recreate the library with the proper options setup.

You will have to stop the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service first to be able to delete all the files in the C:\Users\userprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player folder.
