I've windows 7 media center with soundblaster and 5.1 surround system. All the speakers work during movie playback and TV playback, but when I listen to my music only the right and left speakers work, cutting out all the bass frequences generated by the subwoofer.

    Any idea?

    Thanks,

Music is only 2 channel in most cases.  The only way you'd get sound from other speakers is through the settings on the receiver or by manipulating the soundblaster settings.  But since music is mastered for stereo, doing this may not be the best idea depending on where your speakers are placed and where you sit.

Check "Playback Enhancements" under your sound settings. Because I have a slightly older Intel mobo and Intel says they won't be releasing Win7 drivers for it I had to turn off playback enhancement to get my playlists to work properly without cutting out 20 seconds before the end of each song. Under Vista I enjoyed having sound from my 5.1 surround system (especially the sub-woof), but I must say I think the sound quality for music is better just using my two primary towers in front. I still get surround on sources that really are surround (DVDs and HDTV) - I just don't get it any more on 2 channel sources. Being a bit anal I would like to have the option of having it, but it hasn't wrecked my world.
