Hello i recently got an Xbox 360 installed in my bedroom as an extender.

The only trouble im having is that everytime I use it to listen to my music it writes over all my HQ 600 x 600 album art on my media center in my lounge.

I listen to music through the media center extender on the 360 and through the music section when the xbox button is pressed.

Ive tried to stop the write, modify permissions on the music directory but it seems to change the permissions back.

This is bugging me because of the wasted weeks ive spent getting perfect Album Art for 100 of albums.

    Please Help.

What version of Windows are you using?

This is a known problem, but I think Win7 respects images embedded into the mp3 files.

    Im using Home Premium.

So i have to embed all my album art inside the MP3's?

Vista or Win7 Home Premium? I think with Vista you're stuffed unless you completely write protect the mp3 file. Win7 will leave embedded art alone, but considers folder.jpg and other folder art files to be system files, and therefore fair game to change.

However, there are other posts on here that go into more detail. I'd do a search for the definitive answer. cw-kid has taken a particular interest in this, so some of his posts may be useful.

Sorry should of mentioned Windows 7 Home Premium.

I did what ive read before and got rid of the hidden folder files, then produced my own HQ 600 x 600 files, name them Folder.jpg and it all seemed to be ok until i added the extender.  The media music wall and album art look great in HQ.

Did you switch off update options in WMP? The extender runs with its own user account so would have different WMP settings. I'm sure cw-kid has posted something around using group policy to stop this from happening.

You have to go fishing in the registry. See http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/p/43355/187975.aspx#187975 for details.
