Good day! I just bought an XBOX 360 arcade that does not have a internal hard drive. I noticed it had a USB port on the back so I hooked up my external hard drive that only has music and movies on it that was plugged into a WD Media player. I was hoping I could now use the XBOX but when powering on the hard drive and going into the dashboard of the 360 it could not see the hard drive. I assume that it is like the satelite box that i used to have that had it's own format. Sorry to run on I really only want to know if without having a PC ( only have a MAC at the moment) can I still watch the divx movies and music that I have on the external drive?

When using the USB port it doesn't need to be in its own format but it does need to be FAT32. The external drive can also only be used for your own content, XBox Live Marketplace content can not be saved to it.

They "should" as long as you have the latest XBox dashboard updates. DivX support was added awhile ago. I say "should" since variations in the decoding can cause errors.
